The setting meets legal requirements for early years settings

p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder encourages the children to persevere and keep trying. They delight as they master new skills, such as cutting out hand shapes using scissors. This helps motivate children to become active learners and to learn the skills needed in readiness for school.  Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder regularly shares information about children's learning with parents, who also contribute details of what their child learns at home. This helps to ensure children make good levels of progress.  The childminder provides robust settling-in procedures and caring relationships for all children in her care. As a result, children are happy and settled in their environment.  The childminder is highly reflective. She has good links with other childminders and actively seeks the views of parents and children using her service. This ensures that she continues to evaluate and improve the service she offers.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not yet share information about children's learning with other settings that children attend.  The childminder does not have a thorough programme of professional development in place.

The childminder plans and provides a range of activities to meet all children's needs. This ensures children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. The childminder supports children to develop their communication and language skills. She does this through a variety of questioning and conversation techniques. Children make good progress in their communication and language skills. The childminder encourages children to develop their own creative ideas. good

Children's emotional and physical needs are well met. The childminder gathers important information when children start and she uses daily diaries to communicate children's care needs with their parents. Children are encouraged to develop healthy lifestyles. They have healthy snacks and are encouraged to wash their hands before eating or after toileting. The childminder plans and provides environments that support children's interests. This ensures they are motivated and engaged in their learning. Outside environments promote children's physical development and encourage children to manage risks. The childminder continually promotes children's positive behaviour. As a result, children behave very well and respond to clear support from the childminder.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a good understanding of how to safeguard children in her care. Risk assessments are thorough and are regularly reviewed and shared with parents to help ensure children are kept safe at all times. The childminder evaluates her practice and has addressed previous recommendations. The childminder completes mandatory training to ensure she keeps her knowledge about safeguarding and first aid up to date. However, she identifies that she has not explored all ways to enhance her teaching knowledge even further so that children make rapid progress. The childminder carefully monitors children's learning. This ensures that all children make good progress in their learning. Links with other settings that children attend are in place to share details of children's general care needs. However, the childminder does not yet share information about children's learning with other settings that children attend so that children benefit from continuity in their
