p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder fosters good relationships with the children. She is very kind, caring and shows affection towards them, which enables children to feel secure and grow in confidence within her care.  The childminder's observations and assessments are effective and planning clearly focuses on the children's interests to promote their learning and development.  Children benefit from a range of good activities, which helps them become independent and learn through their play.  Children follow good hygiene procedures. They learn about living a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods, spending time daily in the fresh air and taking part in exercise, which enhances their physical well-being.  The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge and understanding of how to safeguard children in her care, which enables her to promote their well-being effectively.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not always strengthen children's understanding that print carries meaning or help them link sounds to letters during play activities.  The childminder does not consistently provide opportunities for children to see and talk about their families to extend their personal, social and emotional development.

who attend. This is good

Children make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder provides a good range of learning opportunities. Children concentrate while they play together during a shape and colour cards activity. The childminder actively extends their learning by helping them think, solve problems and respond with their own ideas. She engages in their activities and offers support to develop their mathematical skills. During the inspection, children used their imaginations as they pretended to be dinosaurs. The childminder explained about the different types of dinosaurs to help children understand the differences. The childminder has good relationships with parents. She provides them with ongoing information about their children's development. This shared approach helps the childminder to monitor children's achievements and ensure they all make good progress in their learning.

good

The childminder's home is welcoming and safe, and children have free access to a good range of resources. Children have extremely positive relationships with the childminder. She provides them with good support, reassurance and encouragement. Children enjoy healthy, balanced meals and snacks, and follow the childminder's established hygiene routines. For example, they confidently tell the childminder they need to clean their hands. Children begin to learn to share and take turns because the childminder gives them clear guidance and praise. The childminder builds strong links with local nurseries and schools, and this helps children successfully move between the settings.

p.3

provision is good

She shares numerous policies and procedures with parents, ensuring they know and understand her responsibility regarding their child's safety and well-being. She has daily discussions with parents to make them fully aware of what their child has been doing and any changes in routines. Parents' written feedback for the inspection shows positive comments, such as 'My child progressed tremendously in her development', 'good for anxious parent', 'yummy food', 'excellent carer', 'many activities' and 'happy child'. The childminder reflects on her practice and seeks the views of both children and
