This means that they are happy and especially comfortable in her home. The childminder ensures that she notices any risks to the children. This allows her to take effective steps to keep children safe in her care. Children benefit from the good relationships that the childminder has with their parents. She shares information daily to let them know about their children's ongoing development. The childminder continues to improve her service through training and self-evaluation. She has developed her knowledge to ensure that she has the most current information for protecting the children.

who attend. This is good
The childminder is very successful in helping children to become really confident talkers. She speaks to them while they play to help them talk about what they are doing. The children choose puzzles and the childminder encourages them to name all the different things in each puzzle. Consequently, as the children learn new words, the childminder shows them how to say the words correctly. The childminder teaches the children to count during different activities, and they learn about different sizes and shapes. The children benefit from lots of opportunities to use their imaginations. They delight in playing with the dolls, changing their nappies and feeding them their bottles. The childminder takes the children on visits to the park and local wildlife area where they enjoy exploring and investigating the natural world. The childminder's careful support ensures children gain the skills they need for moving on to pre-school or school.

good
The childminder provides a calm, cosy and welcoming place where children clearly feel completely at home. This means that the children are always relaxed and confident to play and explore. The childminder organises the different play areas well so that, overall, children can easily reach the toys and resources. The childminder promotes children's independence very well. At snack time, the children have safety knives so that they can cut their own fruit. The childminder praises the children, who are clearly delighted with their achievements. The childminder provides well-balanced meals and snacks and helps children to use good hygiene routines. She gives children lots of opportunities to play in the fresh air. This helps the children to learn how to move with confidence and learn about managing their own safety. The childminder skilfully helps children to be kind to each other and to share the toys well. The childminder makes regular assessments to check children are making good progress and that any gaps in their learning are quickly addressed. The childminder takes time to think about her work with the children. This means that she is always improving the activities and experiences to help the children discover and learn through play. The childminder understands and carefully implements the statutory requirements.
