p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder works in partnership with parents to ensure they are fully involved in their children's learning and aware of their children's achievements. As a result, parents support their children's acquisition of new skills at home.  The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibility with regard to child protection to protect children from harm. Her home is safe and excellent steps are taken to reduce potential dangers. Children are extremely safe in her care.  Partnerships with other professionals are strong. As a result, effective communication and information sharing takes place in written format and verbally. This helps to provide continuity to meet children's learning and care needs.  The childminder provides good running commentary to children throughout their play activities and routines. This approach has a positive impact on children's communication and language skills.

who attend. This is good

The childminder ensures that children make good progress because she understands how they learn and develop. She uses their interests to build on and extend their knowledge to become competent learners. Her knowledge of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage ensures she provides activities that are stimulating and interesting. Children engage well because they are motivated through challenging experiences. For example, they enjoyed cooking activities and learnt about textures and new skills as they made their scones. The childminder uses the nearby amenities to offer children different experiences. These visits make learning fun for the children and enable them to learn about the wider world. The childminder is mindful to provide varied opportunities for all children learning with differing abilities.

p.3

outstanding

The childminder is extremely skilled and sensitive in helping children of all ages form secure emotional attachments. This is due to the excellent introductory visits that she provides to support children's move from home to her care. Children's emotional well- being is very high and they give her lots of cuddles. The childminder has a very caring and gentle manner, which creates an extremely calm and reassuring atmosphere for young children. The environment is highly stimulating and there is a broad range of accessible resources to interest all children. The childminder promotes very good manners and ensures that children learn to share and take turns. She meets with other childminders at the local community groups, where children enjoy independent play in larger social groups. This means that they develop very secure relationships, which help to prepare them extremely well emotionally for the larger environment of nursery or school.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a good understanding of the learning and development requirements. She carries out accurate observations and assessments of children to track their progress and identify gaps in their learning and their next steps. The childminder is committed to providing good-quality provision. She reflects on her practice and identifies strengths and areas of development in her self-evaluation. This process includes the views of parents and children. The childminder shows a drive to improve her practice and regularly completes training to update her skills and knowledge, for example in managing children's behaviour effectively, which has a positive and strong impact on children's emotional well- being.
