This provision is outstanding
The childminder provides high-quality teaching and learning experiences for children. She keenly follows their interests, particularly in exploring nature, by regularly taking children on visits to the forest to extend their learning opportunities. Children are happy and form strong relationships with the childminder. She fully understands their needs and offers constant reassurance, praise and encouragement. Consequently, this promotes children's emotional well-being and sense of belonging. Children are excelling in developing strong language and communication skills for their future learning. This is because the childminder models language consistently and provides running commentary during children's play. The childminder actively pursues opportunities to enhance her professional development and increase her knowledge and skills further. The impact of this is evident on children's learning, as they are thriving and make excellent progress.

This provision is outstanding
The childminder implements extremely thorough processes for self-evaluation and is a member of a recognised quality assurance scheme. She maintains up-to-date evaluations of her practice and gathers feedback from parents and children, which she effectively uses to plan targets and drive forward improvement. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder uses a range of approaches to engage all parents in their children's learning. Parents comment that the childminder 'goes the extra mile' for their children. The childminder uses robust systems for monitoring children's progress; therefore, children are exceeding expected levels in their learning and development. She is highly effective in using tailored plans to help children gain skills for the next stage in their learning.

who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder's level of engagement with children is highly effective. She knows how to skilfully use questions to test out ideas and extend their learning. For example, when children discover a feather while playing outdoors, she extends their vocabulary by asking them to describe what they see. This then leads on to a 'bug hunt' where she introduces a bug catcher to collect insects. The childminder has a range of stimulating resources to develop children's interests, although resources to extend children's writing skills are not always accessible, particularly outdoors. The childminder successfully introduces mathematical language in children's play. For example, she encourages them to count and compare sizes, as they prepare 'cakes' in the mud kitchen, placing them gently on baking trays. Children show a keen interest in sharing books. They engage in an audio story session with the childminder, using a large floor puzzle to create the story as they go

along. This provides excellent opportunities to strengthen their early reading skills.

outstanding
The childminder is highly effective in managing children's behaviour and works closely with parents to ensure consistency. Children show a clear understanding of hygiene practices, which the childminder highlights by displaying posters of correct handwashing procedures. She offers younger children foot stools to help them manage their personal care needs and promote independence. The childminder greatly emphasises the importance of being healthy. For instance, she takes children on regular walks and planned visits to the forest to promote physical exercise. Additionally, she works very closely with parents so children benefit from healthy packed lunches from home and provides leaflets on suitable food choices. Children benefit from accessing play equipment to strengthen their large muscle skills, such as a climbing frame and slide. They show an increasing awareness of staying safe, such as the need to wear a hat and apply sun cream

provision is outstanding
The childminder shows a secure understanding of her role and responsibilities to safeguard children. She is highly confident in the processes for reporting any concerns and has a thorough knowledge of the guidance from her Local Safeguarding Children Board to keep children safe at all times. As part of her ongoing professional development, the childminder regularly seeks training opportunities. For example, she has recently added a three-day course on promoting children's sensory learning experiences, which led her to review her resources to benefit all children. The childminder has established secure links with outside agencies, such as speech therapists, and works closely with other professionals in order to promote continuity in meeting children's learning and care needs.
