who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder has an outstanding understanding of how children learn and how to relate this to the children in her care. She provides a broad range of activities and experiences to promote children's development across all areas of learning. The quality of her teaching is consistently high. For example, children eagerly make their own play dough. They measure out cups of flour and salt telling the childminder when they are full to the top. The childminder consistently asks questions that encourage children to think for themselves and make links in their learning. For example, when adding vanilla essence the children tell the childminder 'This smells like ice cream'. Children are fully engaged in all activities and are developing active learning skills, which prepare them exceptionally well for starting school.

outstanding
Relationships between the childminder and the children are extremely strong. This enables children to settle and ensures they are very comfortable and happy in her care. Children are highly motivated and occupied in this extremely well-planned environment. They independently choose their own toys and activities and move freely between the indoors and the garden. Children are taught how to manage risks, for example, as they access the small steps between the indoors and the garden. They develop excellent self-care skills, for example, children use individual cloths after meals to wipe their hands and face. The childminder promotes children's emotional well-being by attending different playgroups and outings with other childminders. Children can practise their physical skills, mix with other children and gain the social skills required for their future learning.
p.3
provision is outstanding
The childminder has high expectations of herself and the children in her care. Children's safety and well-being are highly prioritised. Robust risk assessments, stringent safety measures and highly comprehensive safeguarding procedures ensure that children feel safe and are secure. The childminder uses her skills to monitor all children's progress regularly. This enables the childminder to see immediately any developing gaps in progress and to implement targeted professional support. The childminder has applied the knowledge gained through her degree. For example, she has enhanced the learning opportunities for children in her well-equipped garden to an exceptionally high standard. However, she recognises that children's sensory experiences can be promoted even further though introducing more opportunities to hear sounds outdoors. Rigorous self- evaluation ensures the childminder is constantly improving her already excellent

understanding and expert practice. The childminder has built effective relationships with parents and schools children attend.
