who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder develops detailed learning programmes for each child based on their learning styles and interests. She closely involves parents and other settings children attend at each stage of children's learning, providing a solid foundation for future progress. The childminder promotes children's communication and language very well. However, at times, the questions she asks do not always encourage detailed responses from children. The childminder ensures children have a very secure understanding of number concepts through practical activities and games. For example, they play skittles, counting how many pins they knock down and helping to add up and write the scores. Children learn while following their interests. They colour and draw characters from their favourite film as well as writing their names, developing their writing skills exceptionally well. The childminder's precise analysis of children's progress means that she identifies

and addresses any gaps in learning effectively so that they make rapid progress.

outstanding

The childminder builds superb relationships with children and their families. She nurtures every child and values their thoughts and ideas highly. As a result, children settle extremely quickly and are emotionally secure. Children excel in their personal, social and emotional development and, as a result, are inspired to value and respect one another. The childminder significantly extends children's independence and children manage their personal care needs exceptionally well. The childminder promotes children's physical development very well in the well-organised garden and during their walk to and from the local school. The childminder ensures that children learn about road and sun safety. As a result, children show a very strong understanding of how to look after themselves and others.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has an outstanding understanding of how to implement the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Very successful systems help her to monitor the quality of teaching and learning, and to check the progress children make. She has excellent communication with parents and other settings children attend, which promotes children's learning to the highest level. The childminder is highly motivated and professional. She continually explores new initiatives in the early years field and undertakes training to continuously build and develop her provision. For example, she attended a course on encouraging positive behaviour. This had an extremely positive impact on outcomes for children and children's behaviour is excellent. The childminder receives exceptional feedback from parents about the thought and detail that she puts into activities, and how well she supports children's individual needs.
