Children of different ages encourage one another and play well together. The childminder's knowledge about assessment and planning demonstrates her deep reflection on each child. She responds well to children's needs and interests during sessions. She provides timely help to extend each child's development and learning. who attend. This is good
The childminder uses good quality teaching. She challenges and motivates children when together in small groups or playing individually as they wish. All children have good support to be engaged and focused on their play. As a result, children take an active role in learning, which enables them to progress well from their starting points. Children develop strong communication and counting skills. They listen carefully to what others say and talk about their achievements. The childminder extends their thinking and physical skills effectively in games children devise. She enables them to record their scores in games with skittles, for example. Children explore the different textures the childminder provides, such as water and soil. They investigate and solve problems, for example when building with bricks. Children persevere and develop positive attitudes to learning that help them get ready for the next stage of their education.

good
Children develop strong bonds with the childminder and her family so that they feel emotionally and physically secure. New children receive personal support to settle rapidly; the childminder willingly makes visits to their homes or previous settings. Children gain good self-motivation and confidence to explore at their own pace. Older children delight in choosing from the many varied resources for their age group. Children are active at play parks and nearby woods. At the childminder's home, they choose to play indoors or outdoors and stay in designated parts of the garden helping to keep themselves safe. Older children respond to challenges under supervision to climb along railings and play games with inner tyre tubes, for example. Children manage their personal needs well and know the reasons behind the hygienic practices they follow.

provision is good
The childminder understands her responsibilities well in meeting the learning and development requirements, including assessing children's progress. She is knowledgeable about progress checks for two-year-old children and intends to complete these as required to focus on closing gaps in their learning. The childminder understands well how to safeguard children. She creates environments inside and outside the home that are safe and stimulating. The childminder works well in partnership. She is highly experienced in working with other professionals, including children's teachers. She encourages parents to communicate daily about their children's well-being to share about any issues. Parents say their children look forward to coming to this 'home from home'. The childminder is particularly capable in reflecting upon the quality of her provision. She values the views of parents and children to make well-focused plans for further improvement.
