p.1
This provision is good
The childminder uses her strong relationships with the staff in other settings children attend to share information and ensure continuity for their care and learning. The childminder provides a good range of resources that reflect diversity. This helps children to learn about the similarities and differences between them and others. The childminder makes effective use of observations to learn about the children's interests and assess their progress. From this information, she prioritises children's next steps in learning with parental input. Therefore, children make good progress. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. They grow fruit and vegetables that they enjoy picking to eat. They have lots of exercise as they run, jump and climb when out visiting parks and places of interest. Children join in enthusiastically with stories. They are developing a positive attitude to books that prepares them well for early reading.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder and her assistant have a strong understanding of the procedures to follow to safeguard the children in their care. The childminder updates her assistant frequently on changes to assure children's well- being and to promote their learning and development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always ask questions effectively to help children to think and respond with their ideas. The childminder observes children as they play but she does not always use their interests to focus, stimulate and extend their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

The inspector looked at children's assessment records and the planning documentation. The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's qualifications and her suitability checks.

who attend. This is good
The childminder organises a good range of activities that children explore and make new discoveries that are fun. They squirt foam and observe the different patterns it makes when it lands on the ground. Children decide what they want to play and use their imaginations as they cover their feet in foam, and exclaim 'I'm a monster.' They investigate and learn as they work out how to join construction pieces together to build a dinosaur. When introducing a puzzle, the childminder said, 'this is a tricky one.' This helped enhance children's self-esteem when they proudly completed it. Children progress well because they are interested in the experiences they have and enjoy success. The childminder provides parents with comprehensive feedback about their children's progress and experiences. This helps them to support their children's learning at home because they know what their children are learning and know their next steps in development.
p.3
good
Children feel secure and happy in the childminders home. This is evident as they bounce in and instantly engage in play. There is a constant flow of chatter and laughter as the children and childminder engage in play together. Children feel safe with the childminder. They play happily and confidently seek her out for help and reassurance. This is clear through their beaming smiles as she comforts or helps them. The childminder knows the children extremely well and attends to their needs accordingly. She knows when a child may feel overwhelmed and gives them time to observe until they feel confident to join in. Children develop good social skills. They work together to complete puzzles sharing the pieces and taking turns. The childminder teaches children how to keep safe. They know to leave the house and evacuate in an emergency when the childminder blows the whistle.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder is highly active in her professional development. She is strongly opposed to the idea of remaining stagnant in her practice. She frequently attends meetings to upskill her training and talks to other providers from a range of settings. She evaluates her practice in light of the information she learns. For example, following a behaviour management course, she now looks deeper to find the cause of the behaviour rather than just managing the behaviour. Therefore, she encourages children's good behaviour successfully. The childminder listens carefully to the views of parents and adapts her practice accordingly. She has changed the format of diaries to reduce the amount of information given daily and includes only what the parents have requested. The childminder provides a safe environment for children to develop in. She implements robust assessments to minimise risks in her home and on outings.
