This provision is outstanding

 The quality of teaching is outstanding. Children are provided with a wide range of high- quality learning experiences, which are individually tailored to their needs. As a result, children are enthusiastic, highly engaged and motivated to learn.  Children have exemplary support to develop literacy and communication skills. They are inquisitive and speak out to ask and answer questions. Consequently, children are highly confident in their interactions with adults and each other.  The childminder uses skilful questioning to help children to share their knowledge and ideas. He listens to them and enhances their learning, by taking advantage of spontaneous opportunities to capture their interest and extend their learning further.  Children form strong bonds and attachments with the childminder and his assistant. Children display extremely good levels of behaviour, confidence and self-esteem, as they help with small tasks and take part in a range of interesting activities, in and

outside.  Partnerships with parents are excellent. The childminder shares information about children's progress and helps parents to support their learning.  Children are safeguarded very well. This is because the childminder fully understands his duty to protect children from harm. In addition, risk assessments and well-organised environment mean children explore their surroundings safely.  The childminder has excellent knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop. As a result, children's individual needs and stages of development are carefully planned for, and all children make rapid progress from their starting points.  The qualified childminder is highly motivated to further improve his skills. He accesses regular training to enhance his knowledge, and consistently shares information with his assistants to support their continued professional development. This in turn inspires

who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder has an excellent understanding of what the children know and can do. He ensures that activities are tailored to support children's individual learning needs. The childminder carries out accurate and precise observations and assessments of children's development. He uses effective ways to encourage parents to contribute towards the assessments of their children's learning and development. Children hold superb conversations during their play and elaborate on their ideas. The childminder follows children's lead, as they talk about their interests. He constantly engages children in conversation as they play, so they develop a good range of vocabulary. The childminder listens carefully to children, and then sensitively repeats words back to them so they hear the correct pronunciation. Children are actively encouraged to recognise letters and write their name, and familiar names. This means children's communication, and early literacy

and writing skills are significantly enhanced. Children show enthusiasm for their own ideas, such as investigating and playing in the sand. The childminder uses this interest successfully to enhance children's next steps in learning. For example, he promotes sharing the toys, by encouraging children to pass them to their friends. This helps children to listen to others and concentrate, and fosters excellent relationships.

outstanding

Children demonstrate very high levels of confidence and self-esteem. They take care of many of their own care needs, such as toileting and washing their hands. They help to set the table, prepare meals and snacks. Children learn how to cut pieces of fruit safely, as the childminder talks to them about how to stay safe when using knives. Children freely choose whether to play indoors or outdoors throughout the day. As a result, children's independence is fully embedded in daily routines and activities. The childminder ensures there is a wealth of experiences available for children to develop their physical skills. He prepares children exceptionally well for starting school. The childminder effectively works with parents and other professionals, such as teachers to provide excellent continuity for children's well-being and their learning.

p.4

provision is outstanding

The childminder delivers the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage to an outstanding level, within his home environment. He has thorough systems in place to monitor his provision and children's progress. This means he constantly looks to implement new ideas or improvements. Parents speak highly of the childminder and the setting. Assistants are given contracts, and references are sought, inductions and appraisals are completed. Ongoing suitability is supported through effective supervisions of the assistants and training offered. They hold monthly staff meetings to discuss and share best practice. There is room to enhance on the already outstanding practice, by providing opportunities for the childminder and the assistants to observe, and appraise each other while working together.
