This provision is good
The childminder makes accurate observations of children's progress. She uses these to plan for the next steps in their learning by providing a good range of stimulating activities. The childminder promotes children's individual learning, in particular for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, to help them make effective progress. Children are happy and settled with the childminder. She provides a welcoming environment where children are enthusiastic about their learning. The childminder places a high priority on teaching children about their own personal safety and physical well-being. Consequently, children understand the need to regularly drink water during the warm weather and the nutritional value of eating healthy snacks. The childminder uses her knowledge of how children learn to provide a range of resources, which encourages them to explore and investigate. The childminder has a good knowledge of safeguarding. Her robust understanding of

the signs and symptoms of when children are at risk of harm means that she successfully safeguards the children in her care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder is too quick to answer questions for children. This means she misses opportunities to develop children's communication and language skills fully. The childminder does not always provide an inviting area for children to sit down and look at books to fully encourage their early interest in stories.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke with children, parents and the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed as children played and took part in daily routines. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's development records and the childminder's suitability records. The inspector took account of feedback from parents by holding discussions with some parents and reading written feedback provided by other parents.

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides a welcoming and stimulating environment where children are enthusiastic about their learning. She uses her good knowledge of how children learn to provide a range of exciting resources, especially in the garden. Children explore water play. They watch with great interest as the force of the water turns the wheels and pours through holes in different sized plastic and metal containers. Children weigh sand in large buckets and excitedly shout out when one bucket is heavier than the other, thus developing mathematical language. Additionally, the childminder skilfully teaches children to recognise shapes in routines and play to extend their learning further. Children are beginning to take an interest in the letters of their names because the childminder provides resource to promote their understanding of letters and their sounds. These activities prepare children well for their future learning as they move to nursery.

outstanding
The childminder's flexible settling-in arrangements and successful partnerships with parents, mean that all children's emotional needs are met extremely well. She continues to meet these needs over time, increasing children's confidence and emotional well-being with praise and careful attention. The childminder places a high priority on the safety of children. Her consistent approach to behaviour management, means that children have clear boundaries and are learning how to recognise the needs of others. The childminder teaches children how to keep themselves safe. Therefore, children understand the need for hygiene procedures, as they confidently explain why they wash their hands before they eat and hygienically dispose of tissues. Children are careful when using swings and slides, and remind each other about safety rules. As a result of this positive environment and the childminder's effective role-modelling, children are caring towards each other. They

understand each other's individual needs and play well together. Children spend long periods in the garden and the childminder visits local parks so that children can play on a more varied range of equipment to extend their physical skills.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder effectively implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, demonstrating a secure understanding. She works closely with parents and other professionals to support children have special educational needs and/or disabilities. This successful partnership strengthens children's learning and promotes continuity in meeting children's needs fully. The childminder has improved her provision following the last inspection. She reviews her provision and updates her knowledge and skills by accessing further training to meet children's current learning and development needs. This demonstrates a clear capacity for continuous improvement.
