This provision is good
Teaching is good because the childminder plans and provides a wide range of activities based around children's interests and next steps in learning. The childminder understands and implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage well. As a result, children make good progress in all areas of their learning and development. Children have access to a wide range of good quality resources that invite exploration and inspire play, both indoors and in an enclosed outdoor play area. Children's emotional well-being is promoted well. They are confident to explore as they have strong relationships with the childminder. The childminder ensures children are safeguarded and cared for in a safe and secure environment, where ample risk assessments identify and minimise any potential hazards. Partnerships with parents and other professionals are well established. This ensures that each child's individual care and learning needs are well promoted by all those
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Opportunities for children to further enhance their already good mathematical development are sometimes missed. The childminder does not consistently maximise opportunities for children to develop their independence in readiness for school.

The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector observed activities in the playroom and outdoors. The inspector looked at the childminder's documentation. The inspector looked at all suitability checks for the adults living on the premises. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers from information included in the childminder's own parent survey.

who attend. This is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She effectively plans for children, taking into account their individual needs and interests. As a result, children make good progress as they are motivated and engaged in their learning. Children learn about the world through using magnifying glasses to explore insects and small creatures in the garden. The childminder encourages children to think critically about where mini- beasts would be and they choose to look under large plant pots. Young children enjoy playing with toy pushchairs and multicultural dolls. They use their imaginations and pretend to be adults in their play. The childminder uses children's next steps in learning to plan activities effectively. Play is extended to cover other areas of learning, such as promoting early mathematics through counting games related to children's interests.

who attend. This is good
However, the childminder sometimes misses opportunities to further enhance learning by introducing challenge in this aspect of learning for older children. Children enjoy listening to the childminder read stories. This encourages their language and communication skills and prepares them for their next stages of learning.

good
The childminder has positive relationships with the children and secure attachments are formed. Children enjoy interacting and playing with the childminder and show joy through laughter while they play with small-world toys. Consequently, their emotional needs are met well. Children behave well. The childminder uses positive reinforcement, such as stickers, which motivates and builds children's confidence. Children learn about healthy routines. They wash their hands before mealtimes and understand that they do this to remain healthy. However, children's independence skills are not always promoted so that they are very well prepared for school. For example, children do not serve food themselves at mealtimes. Children enjoy playing on bikes in the garden, which promotes their physical development. Regular risk assessments are carried out so that children are safe and secure.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a sound understanding of safeguarding and protecting children. She knows what to do if she is concerned about the welfare of a child and as a result, children are protected from harm. The childminder regularly attends training. This helps her to update her knowledge and apply this to her teaching. She is committed to keeping her knowledge up to date and shares good practice with a childminding network group. The childminder continually evaluates her practice and includes the views of parents and children, who speak highly of her. Parents comment on how well their children are developing and how they value the service provided. The childminder and the co- childminder regularly share information with parents so that children can benefit from a continued learning experience.
