The setting meets legal requirements for early years settings

p.1

This provision is good

 The well-qualified childminder ensures that the provision stimulates the children's interests and challenges their learning. Opportunities for learning are created in all aspects of the setting.  Children form exceptional relationships with the childminder. This means children's individual needs are always met extremely well and children form strong attachments with him.  The childminder fully understands his role in safeguarding children. The setting is welcoming, stimulating and safe. All necessary steps are taken to protect children's welfare.  There is a robust system in place for supporting children's emotional well-being. This is reflected in the secure way children behave in the environment.  Daily discussions with parents help the childminder to promote continuity of care for children.  Children follow good hygiene routines. They enjoy healthy snacks and meals, which promotes their good health.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Opportunities for communication with parents in order to support children's learning and development at home have not yet been optimised.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 build on the existing system of communication with parents in order to provide further guidance to help all parents support children's learning and development at home.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector had a tour of the childminder's setting.  The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector completed observations of children while they were engaged in activities.  The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation, and a range of other documentation including policies and procedures.

who attend. This is good

The childminder provides a good range of activities to promote children's learning and development across the seven areas of learning. Children have access to a wide range of toys and resources that help them develop independence. Children enjoy close interaction with the childminder as they sing familiar songs. The childminder follows children's interests and makes good use of opportunities to praise them. As a result, children have good opportunities to develop their communication skills. The childminder completes an online profile for children that he shares with parents. He records information about the care children have received as well as a summary of the activities they have taken part in. However, the system for sharing information on planned activities with parents is not fully established. As a result, the childminder does not always provide the optimum support to parents to further their child's learning and development at home.

p.3

outstanding

Exceptional arrangements to care for children support their well-being. Children settle quickly as the childminder supports them extremely well. The childminder sensitively allows them time to explore the environment at their own pace. Children are very familiar with the childminder and readily seek him out for comfort when needed. The childminder gives the utmost priority to children's good health and well-being. He ensures that the individual needs of all children are met to the highest level. The childminder works closely with parents and other professionals so that children receive the best possible care. Children benefit from regular trips to a toddler group to develop their social skills and confidence. Children develop positive attitudes to others that help them get ready for the move on to nursery or school. Children fully embrace the benefits of outdoor learning and enjoy discovering all that the outdoor environment has to offer. For example, there are

exciting areas that provide opportunities for developing children's understanding of the world and for building strong physical skills.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a secure knowledge of the learning and development requirements and how to keep children safe. He has addressed the recommendations of the previous inspection resulting in more robust risk assessments. Systems for evaluating what is working and what needs to improve are well established. The childminder is committed to attending training to improve his practice. He monitors how well the children are doing in their learning. Effective partnerships with other settings help to maintain continuity for children at the childminder's home and at nursery. Effective systems for planning result in children having good quality care and learning opportunities throughout the day.
