 Partnerships with parents are exceptional. The childminder goes to significant lengths to work with parents in order to help children to settle. This means that, right from the start, children are extremely confident and self-assured in the childminder's home.  The childminder has up-to-date child protection training and consequently has an excellent awareness of the safeguarding procedures she must follow if she has any concerns about a child.  Children have a very good understanding of healthy lifestyles. They have wonderful opportunities to take part in regular exercise, spending a large part of their day outdoors.  The quality of teaching is of a very high standard. The childminder's rigorous assessment of children's progress helps to identify and close any gaps in children's learning. Consequently, all children make very rapid progress given their starting points and capabilities.  The childminder has a sharp focus on self-evaluation and, as a result, her work shows

who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder has an exceptional knowledge of children's learning and development requirements. On-going observations and accurate assessments track children's progress accurately. This gives the childminder a thorough understanding of children's individual needs, abilities and learning styles. Children learn mathematical skills as they play. For example, they learn language such as bigger or smaller when choosing their watering can and discuss emerging patterns as they sprinkle water onto the patio. Children enjoy reading books, which helps to develop their early literacy skills well. However the childminder does not always extend children's literacy skills throughout the learning environment. Children regularly visit toddler groups. These visits help them to develop confidence and social skills and prepare them well for the next stage of their education.

p.3

outstanding

The childminder spends time getting to know the children and their families very well. Consequently, children form close relationships with the childminder and settle quickly. The childminder focuses strongly on developing children's independence skills. She provides a stimulating environment, which includes resources stored in low-level units so children can choose anything that catches their interest. Children have excellent opportunities to be active and to manage risks through outdoor play and regular physical activities. The childminder works closely with parents to meet the dietary needs of all children. She uses every opportunity to teach children about healthy food and lifestyles. For example, children regularly water the fruit and vegetables in the garden. This helps them to gain an understanding of the world and learn where food they eat comes from.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has a secure knowledge of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She regularly reviews her work and implements plans to improve outcomes for children. As a result, she has successfully addressed the recommendations from the last inspection. The childminder is committed to continuous professional development. This has a positive impact on the quality of teaching. Following recent 'forest school' training the childminder has developed her knowledge and skills on how to promote children's learning in the outdoor environment. The childminder has developed exceptional partnerships with the other settings that the children attend. Parents comment that children benefit greatly from the consistent three-way flow of communication between all carers, which provides excellent continuity of care and learning.
