p.1

This inspection: Not met

Previous inspection: Satisfactory 3 The setting does not meet legal requirements for early years settings

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder has not updated her knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Therefore, she is in breach of requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Some of these also apply to the Childcare Register.  The childminder has policies and procedures to promote how she keeps children safe and promotes their health and well-being. However, she is not confident in implementing these through her practice. In particular, this relates to her awareness of the procedures for medication and her practice in maintaining an accurate record of children's attendance.  The childminder does not have a sufficient understanding of child protection matters and does not have a current copy of her local authority procedures for safeguarding children. Consequently, she is not confident in her awareness of the procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder is unable to demonstrate her knowledge of the learning and development requirements. She is not aware of the requirement to complete a check for children between the ages of two and three years old.  The childminder is not confident in her understanding of how to plan for purposeful play to promote children's development in all areas of learning. This does not enable children to make good progress in their learning.  The childminder was unable to provide her certificate for public liability insurance.  The childminder attends first-aid training to update her knowledge and she holds a current certificate. This enables her to take appropriate action in the event of an accidental injury.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
