who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder very effectively extends children's learning by incorporating further resources, such as sponges and brushes to water play. As a result, younger children develop their muscles making marks and older children develop their early writing skills as they enthusiastically learn to write their name on different surfaces. However, the childminder recognises the potential to develop the outdoor area even further, for example, by using natural resources to optimise challenges for children. The childminder uses excellent teaching methods to develop children's communication skills. She provides a running commentary to children as they engage in their play and models clearly what children say. Furthermore, the childminder provides areas where children can relax on beanbags and look at books and print, and enjoy reading stories. This develops their early-literacy skills exceptionally well.

outstanding

The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment. She spends time with parents and children during settling-in visits, finding out information such as children's interests, and uses this extremely successfully in helping children settle quickly. As a result, the children are very confident and demonstrate close attachments to the childminder. The childminder supports children's physical and emotional well-being exceptionally well. Children have regular visits to the parks and enjoy walks in the local community. The childminder provides many opportunities to encourage confidence in social situations. Children regularly attend toddler groups and learn to play cooperatively alongside their friends. This prepares children exceptionally well for the next stage in their learning.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has an excellent understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has a thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures and consequently knows how to protect children from possible abuse or neglect. The childminder constantly reviews her practice. She attends regular training to improve her professional development and promptly implements newly acquired skills into her provision, enabling her to teach children very effectively. The childminder monitors children's development extremely closely. The assessment of their progress is rigorous, which means she accurately identifies and implements the next steps in their learning. The excellent relationships with the other settings children attend ensure continuity in learning and further progression in their development. Parents are extremely complimentary about the outstanding quality of care and learning their children receive.
