This provision is good
The childminder successfully promotes children's learning and development by focusing on children's interests. This ensures that children remain engaged and motivated to learn. The childminder works effectively with her co-minder to ensure observations and assessments of children's learning clearly identify next steps to progress their learning. Consequently, all children make good progress in preparation for school. Children are confident when exploring the environment and taking part in activities. This demonstrates that they have secure relationships with the childminder and feel safe. The childminder reflects on her practice and is committed to continuously improving her quality provision for children. She has recently finished her degree in early years, which has provided her with the knowledge and confidence to successfully promote and extend children's learning. The childminder has good relationships with parents. She provides them with a range

of information about her home and communicates with them daily which fully informs them of how their children are developing.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not always adapt creative activities to suit stages of all children's development. Therefore, they do not fully engage. The childminder works effectively with professionals to support children's individual needs. However, the childminder does not extend this partnership working with additional early years settings that children attend.

who attend. This is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder provides children with a good range of challenging activities. The childminder encourages children to make decisions about their play and seamlessly enhances aspects of their learning. For example, the children enjoy learning about caterpillars. The childminder asked questions to test their knowledge about the butterfly lifecycle and then encouraged them to take part in threading string through pictures of butterflies; therefore, teaching them about insects and supporting their small physical skills. The activity provided endless learning opportunities, such as discussing different fruits that caterpillars eat, how they grow, and reading stories, which further developed children's knowledge. Younger children actively explore resources on offer, such as building blocks. The childminder gives them time to try to fix them together before offering help. She uses simple language to describe objects the children are using,

good
The childminder fully supports children's independence and promotes the development of life skills during mealtimes. Children choose fruit and confidently prepare these using knives. The childminder reminds children how to use utensils safely which develops their knowledge of how to keep themselves safe. She encourages discussions about healthy eating which further develop children's knowledge. Children benefit from a variety of outings into the local environment including visits to the library and local parks. This fully supports children's physical well-being as well as the development of their social skills. Children behave well and have a good understanding of what the childminder and her co- minder expect from them. For example, they know to take their shoes and coats off and place them in the hall when they arrive.

provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of the safeguarding and welfare requirements. The childminder understands her role and responsibilities in recording and reporting concerns about children's safety and well-being. Therefore, she helps to keep children safe. The childminder continuously evaluates the provision with her co-minder and together they identify courses that will support their practice. The childminder considers the views of parents and children through questionnaires, which allows her to review aspects of her practice to make improvements. The childminder provides good support for children moving on to school and provides summaries of their development to teachers. The childminder also spends time explaining what to expect and continuously promotes the development of life skills, such as getting dressed and putting on shoes.
