who attend. This is good

The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. She provides a well-resourced environment which promotes children's learning effectively. Children develop their imagination and creativity very well. They make links to the real world, using modelling dough to make ice cream. The children explained it looks 'different when it is from the ice cream van'. Children learn about colours and changes, and develop their finger muscles as they mix the dough together. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills very well. She speaks in their home language and in English, which encourages the children's confidence. The childminder supports children's thinking and problem-solving skills effectively. She asks skilful questions that allow them to think and clearly express their ideas. The childminder promotes children's understanding of early mathematics effectively. For example, they

learn that having three ice creams means they need one more to make four. The childminder completes regular observations and assessments of children's development and effectively identifies their next steps. This helps to ensure the childminder provides children with appropriate experiences to support their continued good progress in learning.

good

Children are cared for in a warm, safe and welcoming environment, where the childminder promotes children's emotional well-being effectively. Children behave well as they receive clear explanations about the rules and boundaries of the home. This supports children's good behaviour. She takes children out daily to local parks, where they learn to play with other children and promote their physical well-being. These activities help children to gain the essential skills needed as they move on to nursery or school. Children learn to keep safe, for example, as the childminder explains the need to sit while they eat their apples. The childminder provides children with balanced, nutritious meals. Children learn simple health and hygiene practices, such as washing their hands. This teaches children about healthy lifestyles.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder uses risk assessments effectively to minimise hazards within the premises and on outings. She maintains clear and detailed records for individual children to ensure she meets their care needs. The childminder regularly evaluates her practice and includes the views of parents and children. This resulted in her attending further training which has strengthened her knowledge in childcare. The childminder regularly monitors children's progress to meet their needs and develop her provision.
