who attend. This is outstanding

Children thrive with this inspiring professional childminder. All children make rapid progress towards the early learning goals in relation to their starting points. She demonstrates an excellent understanding of how young children learn. Detailed observations of the children's activities are used to plan worthwhile activities which encourage good progress. The childminder's extensive knowledge of each child results in purposeful planned learning where the children have fun and learn as they play. The use of nursery rhymes and singing gives children a substantial and innovative way to learn about numbers and extend their vocabulary. The childminder successfully extends their understanding of concepts such as 'large' and 'tall' as they build a brick wall for Humpty to fall off. They use props to help them count how many frogs are on the log or which animals are at the farm. These skills help prepare them very well for their future learning.

outstanding

Children are very happy and have a real bond with the childminder. They go to her for cuddles when they need reassurance. The childminder ensures that the children are confident and ready for their next stage in their learning by visiting their new environment with them so that they feel secure. Children play in a rich, varied and well-organised environment, both indoors and outdoors, that offers them a range of exciting activities. The displays and the layout of resources result in children having a sense of belonging as they can access what they wish to play with and there are photographs of them enjoying themselves. This encourages independence and high self-esteem. Children's behaviour is excellent and they learn from a young age to take turns and cooperate with each other. They respond well to tidy up time as they sing a song that encourages them with the task.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has an extremely effective ongoing evaluation procedure to monitor the effectiveness of her practice. Her drive to constantly improve is reflected by her continuously seeking and attending a wide range of training which further develops her skills and knowledge. She adjusts her practice to reflect any new knowledge. For example, children now have more learning experiences outdoors all year round. She has met all the recommendations from the last inspection. Partnership with parents and others is extremely effective, offering children continuity of care and learning. Parents value the accurate and extensive information she exchanges with them that enables them to continue their child's learning at home. The childminder tracks the progress of every child carefully. This enables her to respond to any gaps in children's learning or experiences and plan to offer activities to further promote their development.
