She is knowledgeable of the procedures to follow for reporting any welfare issues which may raise cause for concern.  The childminder works very closely with parents. This helps her to get to know the children and their starting points. As a result, observations and planning are thoughtful, as the childminder takes children's individual needs into account.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

who attend. This is good

The childminder works very closely with parents to get to know children and their starting points. As a result, observations and planning are thoughtful, as children's individual needs are taken into account. Children develop at a good pace and benefit from the enjoyable activities the childminder provides to maintain their interests. For example, young children enjoy spending time playing with puzzles and building blocks. The childminder uses good teaching techniques. These enable children to create and think critically as they learn new strategies during play routines. The childminder interacts effectively with the children. This helps to promote children's physical development and their personal, social and emotional development very well. The childminder involves children in different conversations and this helps to develop their communication and language skills effectively.

p.3

good

Children settle quickly because the childminder provides a safe and welcoming environment. Children enjoy regular visits to local parks and children's centres, where there is a variety of outdoor play equipment to help promote their physical exercise. The childminder provides healthy snacks for children and fresh drinking water is readily available. Young children feed themselves independently. This promotes children's self- care skills and their independence. These skills help prepare children for their next stage of development. Children regularly participate in fire drills and know what to do and how to behave in an emergency. This helps to make a positive contribution to the way children develop a sense of danger and how to keep themselves safe.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a secure knowledge of the requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has addressed recommendations from the last inspection effectively. This has had a positive impact on children's well-being and on their learning and development. The childminder is committed to continual development to improve outcomes for children. For instance, she has attended several training courses and has completed her Level 3 childcare qualification. This has had a positive effect on how she teaches and meets children's learning needs. The childminder is making ongoing improvements as part of her self-evaluation process. She maintains continuity for children's learning and care, due to the effective partnerships she has established with parents, professionals and local schools.
