This provision is good
Teaching is good. The childminder knows the children in her care and understands how they learn. She makes good use of asking questions so that make children think about what they are doing. Children are happy and engaged taking part in the activities of their choice. All children are actively involved in the experiences provided so they feel included and valued. Strong relationships with parents ensure children's individual needs are met and their emotional welfare is promoted. Additionally, this supports a consistent approach to their care and learning. The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding. She is confident of the action to take to protect children in her care and keep them safe from harm.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not fully focus her own professional development on raising teaching to its highest level so children make even better progress. The childminder, on occasions, does not make best use of all information about how well children are doing. Therefore, experiences and activities are not as closely matched as possible to children's identified next steps in their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the lounge/playroom. The inspector sampled children's assessment records, planning documentation and a range of other records, policies and procedures. The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's suitability, training certificates and her self-evaluation and improvement plans. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector and childminder undertook a joint observation and discussed the children's learning while they were engaged in the activities.

who attend. This is good
The childminder expertly engages children as she sits with them and talks about what they are doing, promoting their speaking and listening skills well. Children enjoy the discussions as they develop their own conversational skills. The system for the observation, assessment and tracking of children's progress is good. However, the childminder does not use the information obtained to full effect. This is because when planning to meet children's needs, activities are based on children's interests and not always on what they already know. The childminder helps children to listen, concentrate and manage their own needs, promoting their independence. Additionally, they are being very well prepared for school and their next stage of learning. The childminder skilfully introduces numbers, shapes and colours as children play. She extends children's thinking as she asks them what might happen next or what they can see, as they experiment with the water and

good
The children are settled and very secure with this kind and caring childminder. The childminder skilfully keeps younger children involved and helps older children understand the normal behaviour for very young children. Consequently, children's emotional welfare and self-confidence is promoted. The childminder works well with parents and this ensures children's care needs are met. Links with external agencies and other settings provide a consistent approach to children's care and education. Children play in a safe and secure home because the childminder completes a risk assessment of the home prior to children arriving. Children's overall good health is promoted through good opportunities for daily exercise and a balanced healthy diet. Children delight in going for walks to the park and making friends at the toddler groups.

provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder has systems in place for checking and evaluating her own practice, including links with the local authority, However, she has not yet fully focused her professional development on raising the quality of teaching and her practice to an outstanding level so children make even better progress. The childminder has attended training courses; this has improved her knowledge and skills and, therefore, the care and education of the children. The childminder has addressed the recommendation previously set by obtaining her paediatric first-aid qualification and keeping it up to date.
