This monitoring visit
This service was making inadequate progress at the interim inspection in March 2015. Requirements were made to ensure, for example, improvements occurred in the monitoring of the service by the manager, both on and off site; that the property be maintained at a good standard, and ensure the managers active involvement in the operation of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Good progress has been made on all the shortfalls. In particular, a new manager has been appointed and is going through the registration process with Ofsted. As a result there have already been marked improvements to the property, staff supervision, and monitoring of activities. This helps to ensure that the views of children are known and that their care is appropriate. Off-site activities constitute a substantial part of the service with some children rarely if ever using the house. Currently there is one child in placement who was off site during the visit. The amount of time children spend at the home, and other features of this new model, are under review.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Consideration is being given to the Statement of Purpose. This is based on an organisation-wide template and satisfactorily describes the service in broad terms. The manager is planning ways to improve the document so it more fully describes the specialist features of the service and how it affects children and staff. Other documents have also been reviewed and updated by the manager to ensure they are accurate. These include a new development plan for the improvement of the service. This will benefit children and staff.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Substantial improvements have been made to the property. It is now well-presented and clean throughout. It provides a comfortable and attractive environment for children and staff where they feel valued. Further improvements are planned to both gardens. The property is now suitable for two children and an application is currently being considered by Ofsted to increase the registered number accordingly.
p.2
This monitoring visit
These steps have given the service the focus necessary to meet regulations.
