p.1

This provision is good

 Teaching skills are consistently strong throughout the nursery. Staff show good understanding of how children learn. They are confident at building on existing skills and encouraging good levels of achievement.  Staff establish good partnerships with parents and other people who share care or have a role in children's lives. They understand how to encourage information sharing, enabling children's learning to continue at home.  The key-person system works very well. Staff are interested in parents' and children's lives and build trusting relationships that support children's emotional well-being.  The staff provide an inclusive environment and a range of activities to support children's understanding of diversity. They successfully identify those children who are not meeting expected levels of development and help them move forward in their learning.  The leadership and management team complete robust monitoring systems to ensure

the effectiveness of their staff team in carrying out their roles and responsibilities.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Staff help children build on their knowledge and skills. However, they do not always extend learning further by consistently encouraging children's critical thinking skills or encouraging them to try out solutions to their problems for themselves first.  Children do not have consistent opportunities to build on their choice making and self- care skills during daily routines.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good

Staff are friendly and help children settle into their day because they provide a good range of resources and activities that engage their interests. Staff are secure in their knowledge of individual children and their close monitoring of children's progress is used effectively to inform their planning, according to their learning styles. They provide lots of positive language which helps to build confidence when children try new skills. For example, activities that involve sharing help them to learn alongside others. Staff promote children's communication skills successfully. Group activities, such as singing and story time, provide opportunities for children to listen carefully. Staff include mathematical language, and letter and sound recognition during activities, and this helps to develop on children's interests and creative skills. Staff provide a varied range of resources to extend children's

good

Staff promote good behaviours and children learn how to relate to others, showing kindness and caring attitudes. Planned activities, such as woodwork and walks around their local community, help extend children's awareness of how to keep themselves safe. The environment and activities are risk assessed and encourage children to experiment and have a go. The staff introduce good hygiene routines into the day and children are learning to take care of their teeth and wash hands appropriately. As they develop they show increasing levels of independence particularly at toileting times. Snacks and meals are healthy and nutritious. However, children are not able to make consistent choices about what they choose to eat or extend their self-care skills further by serving themselves. The nursery manages changes in care arrangements well, taking care to ensure children's emotional well-being is promoted. This helps children adapt as they

provision is good

The management team has good systems in place to monitor the quality of the teaching and learning. They ensure that staff understand their roles and responsibilities as key persons, and regular coaching, supervision and training is offered to increase their effectiveness. This has resulted in consistently good practice and improved outcomes for children. Managers and staff are reflective of the service and seek parents' views through many different channels. They are able to identify areas for improvement and show continuous development since the last inspection. There is a secure knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding procedures. Recruitment processes are robust and ensure that all those working at the nursery undergo suitability checks and complete induction processes.
