p.1
This provision is good
The childminder is very caring and attentive so children feel safe and well supported. Children make good progress as the childminder plans interesting activities that provide the right level of challenge for each child. The childminder values partnership working and develops good relationships with parents and other settings children attend. As a result, they work closely together to support children's learning and progress consistently. Children confidently move on to school and other settings as the childminder takes the time to prepare them well, for example, with visits and discussions. She encourages children to learn to manage their own care needs, such as dressing. Children enjoy nutritious, home-prepared meals and snacks so they learn about eating healthy foods that are good for them.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder's close supervision of babies who are learning to crawl and walk does not always allow them the space they need to practise and become confident to develop these new skills. She does not always make available the resources she has to fully assist their progress, such as equipment to pull themselves up with.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides good quality teaching. She supports children to develop their language well as she speaks to them continually. They look at books together and the childminder encourages children to enjoy reading. She shows them how to lift the flaps and find the characters hiding on the pages. The childminder introduces a range of new words and concepts such as mathematical terms of size and shape. She builds brick towers for children to knock down, counting how many bricks they use. The childminder tracks children's progress from the first meeting with their parents. She continuously monitors how children are developing and assesses their progress at age two years old to arrange any additional support as early as possible. The childminder bases her planning on children's interests so they are eager to take part and enjoy learning.
p.3
requires improvement
The childminder completes regular checks of her home and places they go on outings to. This greatly reduces possible hazards and promotes children's safety securely. She teaches children how to consider their own safety on outings; for example, they cross the road using pedestrian crossings whenever possible. They hold hands when they walk, especially on public transport so the childminder keeps children close to her. Children behave well as the childminder is calm and supportive and has clear expectations for children's behaviour so they know what is acceptable. The childminder has good procedures that help her make positive relationships with children to support them to settle well and trust her. Older children confidently make independent choices about what they want to do from a wide range of available resources.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder shares information with parents effectively. She uses a written daily diary as well as discussions every day about the children's general care. Parents regularly take the learning journeys home to read to see the progress their children have made. The childminder reflects on her practice continuously to make changes that will enhance her already good quality care of the children. She asks parents and children for their views and adapts her practice to meet their suggestions. For example, children asked for more scissors and cutters. The childminder increases her knowledge and understanding through training opportunities which has helped her to understand children's different learning styles. As a result, she meets children's learning needs well. Parents are very happy with the care their children receive. In particular, the childminder's calm management of children's behaviour and the flexibility she offers. The childminder has a good
