p.1
This provision is good
The childminder forms strong working partnerships with parents, which supports children's emotional security well. Children make good progress because the childminder monitors their development effectively and plans activities that continually challenge them. The childminder is patient and calm, which benefits children as they develop positive attitudes to learning. Children feel confident and ready to learn because their relationships with the childminder are secure. Children enjoy a range of play opportunities, both inside and outside. This particularly benefits children who prefer learning in the outside area. The childminder has a good understanding of how to work with other professionals in order to support children with consistent routines and systems.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes steps in too quickly to help children and does not always enable them to complete simple tasks on their own to promote their independence fully.

who attend. This is good
Children make good progress because the childminder uses good teaching skills. She understands their interests and plans activities that challenge them well. The childminder completes regular observations of children's development that she shares with parents. This provides them with the opportunity to complement activities at home. For example, she encourages children's interest in books and stories to develop children's literacy skills. She helps children to borrow books from the library for parents to read with them at home. Children have good access to the outdoor area. They develop competent physical skills as they learn to move around and climb in the garden. By taking considered risks and challenging themselves outdoors, children develop confidence and resilience. These skills underpin all areas of learning. Children explore simple mathematics as they investigate whether cars are too 'big' or 'small' to fit through a tube.
p.3
good
Children behave well because the childminder is a positive role model. She helps children to develop their confidence by providing good routines. This helps children to feel emotionally secure and settle well in her care. Children develop good social skills as they attend a variety of toddler groups with the childminder. Here they learn to form friendships, preparing them well for school. The childminder completes a daily communication diary detailing the food children have eaten and their sleep times, for example. Parents also share information from home. This helps the childminder to make links between their home experiences and their play. For example, as the train goes by outside her house, she talks about when children enjoyed a train ride. The childminder successfully helps children to develop a sense of healthy lifestyles. She encourages good hand hygiene, providing children with separate towels to prevent the spread of infection.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder understands her responsibilities and meets the requirements well. Since her last inspection, she has improved her systems to monitor children's development, and does this well. She attends training, which has enabled her to increase her ability to protect children. The childminder confidently identifies signs and symptoms that would give her cause for concern about children's welfare and follows robust safeguarding procedures.
