This provision is good
The childminder plans adult-led activities for children, which meet their needs and support them to make good progress in their learning. The resources are age- appropriate and of interest to children. As a result, children have many opportunities to lead their own play. The childminder is a good role model to children and they form secure attachments with her, which promotes their well-being and independence. The childminder has attended appropriate safeguarding and child protection training. This means her knowledge and understanding is up to date, which helps her to keep children safe. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice and provision and evaluates what is working well, to identify any improvements that need to be made. The childminder is qualified and experienced and uses her knowledge to provide the children with a rich and challenging environment.
p.1

At times, the childminder is too directive during play and does not give children enough time and space to have a go for themselves. The childminder does not have fully effective systems in place to provide parents with guidance and information on how they can promote children's learning at home.

who attend. This is good
The childminder is qualified and experienced, and uses her knowledge to plan exciting and interesting activities for children, which are tailored to meet their individual needs. The childminder's setting is well organised with quality play equipment, which ensures that children have access to a wide range of age-appropriate resources. Children make choices throughout the session about what activities they wish to engage in. They are learning about road safety, and the childminder makes this activity interesting by providing related play dough mats, which prompt discussions. The environment is very rich in print and number, which supports children's communication and language development. Children are confident talkers. At times, the childminder does not provide children with enough time during activities to have a go themselves and test out their own ideas. Parents have access to their children's learning records and comment, 'these are a great source of

Their emotional well-being is promoted and they are independent in their play and personal care. Children are confident and motivated to learn. The childminder is preparing them emotionally for the move to school through regular discussions. Children engage in imaginative play and show care and concern for the dolls, comforting them and feeding them. The childminder has a clear and effective safeguarding policy in place. This details how the childminder helps to keep children safe. Children visit the local park and community daily, as well as shops and children's centres. During this time, they have the opportunity to be active, engage in physical play and socialise with other children. Children enjoy nutritious meals and snacks that meet their dietary needs.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of the learning and development and safeguarding requirements. Procedures for carrying out risk assessments are effective. The childminder is committed to offering children in her care a quality learning experience. The childminder reflects on, and evaluates, her practice and provision regularly. She is committed to her professional development and improves her knowledge, understanding and practice through attending regular training courses. She works in partnership with the local authority consultant and local childminders, and effectively uses this as an opportunity to make improvements to her provision. This enhances the learning experiences and opportunities for children. The childminder has established good links with the local primary school. Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning.
