This provision is good
The childminder understands how young children develop and learn. She takes into account children's interests when planning activities, and provides experiences that promote their individual next steps in learning. The childminder ensures that children are well prepared for their move to school. She makes use of opportunities to promote the skills they need, such as listening to others, speaking clearly and sharing with their friends. Therefore, children are developing the skills they will need to be able to deal with the changes ahead. Children are well cared for. The childminder makes use of her All about me forms to get to know children well from the very start. She adapts her routines and care practices as required, to ensure children's needs are consistently well met. The childminder attends frequent courses to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. She is proactive in conducting her own research about early years education. She also

liaises with other professionals to share ideas and seek advice. This has a positive impact on the quality of care and education she provides. The childminder frequently monitors children's progress using her recently implemented tracking sheets. She is highly aware of where she can provide children with additional support or extra challenge. Therefore, all children make good progress.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed teaching practice, and conducted a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector viewed the areas used for childminding, and held discussions with childminder throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at the documents available, including children's learning records, policies and procedures. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder, and discussed her methods for self-evaluation. The inspector sought parents' views from written comments available and discussions held on the day.

who attend. This is good
The quality of teaching is consistently good. Therefore, children benefit from good quality activities that promote their progress across all areas of learning. For example, children display high levels of engagement from a young age in various planned nature activities. They enjoy using magnifying glasses to hunt for insects in the garden. The childminder encourages them to look closely at their environment, and the children begin to think about caring for living things, which enhances their understanding of the world. Inside, they keenly join in with craft activities to make bird feeders, which extend their creative skills. The childminder models what they are expected to do, helping them as required. The childminder works well in partnership with parents. Information is shared well and a collaborative approach to children's learning is promoted. Therefore, children benefit from continuity in their learning between the setting and home. However, partnerships with

Resources are neatly organised and clearly labelled, making them easily accessible. Therefore, children are well motivated to choose what they want to play with. The childminder is very warm, positive and encouraging. She allows children time and space to freely explore. The childminder actively promotes children's independence within her home. She makes use of all opportunities to encourage them to manage their self-care, when they are ready. Therefore, children develop strong relationships with the childminder and demonstrate confidence within her home. Children's physical skills are especially well promoted. The childminder makes use of the resources available in her garden and the wider community to help children to build confidence in climbing, balancing and moving in different ways. She also uses opportunities during activities to encourage children to have a go at using tools and equipment, such as knives and scissors.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder fully understands her responsibility to implement the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children's safety and welfare is very important to the childminder. She makes use of daily checks to minimise all possible hazards to children within her home. She ensures the documentation that underpins children's well-being is well maintained. The childminder also keeps her safeguarding knowledge up to date. She is very clear about the procedures she must follow, should she have any concerns regarding a child's welfare. Therefore, children are kept safe and protected from harm. The childminder evaluates the setting, taking into account the views of those who use it, and sets targets to work towards.
