who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder has an excellent understanding of how children learn. She skilfully engages children in discussions during activities to support further their developing language and literacy skills. For example, children enjoy using puppets and props when reading their favourite stories. The childminder, on occasion, does not fully encourage children to try to work things out for themselves before answering. The childminder seizes opportunities to encourage mathematics throughout the day, for example, as they extend their understanding of size and shape as they engage in sand play. They develop their coordination and early understanding of patterns as they transport sand into buckets with toy diggers. Children gain an excellent understanding of the world. They enjoy planting flowers and vegetables in the garden, and learn how to care for them.

The childminder has addressed recommendations made at the last inspections. She carries out regular checks to eliminate hazards, both around the home and on outings. The childminder fully understands the importance of reflecting on her practice, and welcomes the views of parents and children. This enables her to make well-targeted improvements to improve outcomes for children. For example, she has restructured the learning environment to develop the literacy area even further. The childminder regularly monitors children's learning and provides them with effective learning experiences. This means children are progressing exceptionally well.
