This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder talks with the children constantly about what they are doing. This helps to support their communication and language skills and expand their vocabulary. The childminder is fully aware of her role and responsibility to keep children safe. She has an in-depth understanding of child protection procedures and is able to identify the signs or symptoms that may be a cause for concern. The childminder has strong partnerships with parents. She keeps parents well informed of their children's activities and progress. The childminder actively promotes their involvement in their children's learning, which successfully supports children's good development. The childminder uses praise and encouragement effectively to boost children's confidence. They demonstrate high self-esteem and behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children enjoy being creative and expressing themselves. However, art resources are limited. This means that children have fewer opportunities to explore using their senses using materials, such as paint and glue. Although children have daily opportunities to play outside, activities focus on their physical development, offering a trampoline and ride on toys. The childminder has not considered moving activities outside, especially for the younger children. Therefore, children who learn best outside are not able to explore and investigate further.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the learning and development requirements. She makes accurate assessments of children's development and uses these effectively to monitor and plan a range of interesting and challenging experiences. Consequently, children make good progress, which prepares them well for the next stage in their learning. The childminder introduces mathematical language to teach children about measurement. She encouraged them to help her measure each other and compared their sizes. Children count in sequence, recognise numerals and identify which is the biggest number. The childminder skilfully builds on children's knowledge of colour, number and shape through daily routines and activities. Children thoroughly enjoyed singing and playing musical instruments. They experimented with the sounds that the instruments made and learnt the words to a song. This supports children's language skills well.

good
The childminder works well with parents to gather information about their children's interests and finds out what they are able to do. This means that she is able to focus her initial planning on children's learning needs. The childminder teaches the children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. They follow thorough hygiene routines, have daily physical activities and eat healthily. The childminder quickly forms a close bond with the children. This helps them to feel settled, happy and supports their emotional and physical well-being effectively. Children learn how to keep themselves safe through discussion about road safety and practising the emergency evacuation procedure with the childminder.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a strong knowledge of the safeguarding and welfare requirements. She carries out risk assessments on her home, garden and the outings she takes with the children, so that children can play safely. The childminder oversees her assistant's work well. She completes training, updating her child protection knowledge and first-aid qualification to help keep children safe. She has used the skills and knowledge gained from training to create a fixed obstacle course in the front garden using logs. This has provided a great source of fun and helped to develop children's physical skills. The childminder has fully addressed the recommendations made at her last inspection. She reflects on her practice, identifying her strengths and areas for development. Parents are very happy and comment that their children have gained in confidence both in their physical and social skills since being in the childminder's care. The childminder works very
