who attend. This is good

Children have an enjoyable time as they access a range of stimulating activities, which help them to make good progress towards the early learning goals. Children enjoy problem-solving; they study pictures on puzzle pieces and fit them together without help. The childminder extends children's learning by using mathematical language during their play, for instance, in relation to size, shape, colour and number. The childminder encourages children's communication skills by providing running commentary, using sign language and questioning to help children think and respond. She extends children's vocabulary by, for example, linking two and three words together. However, she does not make best use of visual resources when reading stories or singing songs to further encourage children's thoughts and responses. Children develop their creative skills and use their imagination, for example, as they make cups of tea and birthday cards for family

members. They enjoy operating press-button toys, which make music and light up.

good

The gradual settling-in procedure and caring attitude of the childminder means that children's emotional well-being is met well. Children are very relaxed and happy in her care. The childminder praises and encourages children and, as a result, they gain confidence to repeat and try new activities. Children experience fresh air and exercise, and develop their physical skills as they climb, balance and slide on apparatus. However, the childminder does not always plan the use of resources outdoors to further children's good all-round learning experiences. Children enjoy sociable mealtimes and the childminder takes this opportunity to teach children good hygiene practices and good manners. Children learn to keep safe, for example, as they use scissors. Children are well-prepared for the next stage in their education.

p.3

The childminder closely monitors the children's progress to quickly identify any gaps and to provide support through early interventions. She works very closely with parents and other professionals to implement specific activities and therapy plans. Parents are very complimentary about the childminding provision. Children have an enjoyable time as the childminder meets their individual needs with kindness and care.
