who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder has an excellent understanding of how children learn and expertly promotes their development through play. She plans a rich range of interesting play experiences, which motivate children to learn. For example children are fascinated to learn about people who work in the community on visits to the lifeboat station, the fire station and the post office. This learning is reinforced highly effectively, as children confidently write letters to post, developing excellent early writing and literacy skills. The childminder interacts extremely positively with children during play, using questions which skilfully challenge their thinking and develop their problem-solving skills. During activities such as cooking pizzas, children are encouraged to think about how to stop the dough from sticking to the table. They read recipes, estimate, weigh and measure ingredients, developing exceptionally good mathematical skills. Consequently, children are extremely

outstanding
The childminder provides an excellent nurturing and welcoming environment. She supports children extremely well and, as a result, children form very secure emotional attachments. Children are extremely confident to explore the excellent range of easily accessible resources, which enhances opportunities for them to make their own choices about play. Children develop an excellent understanding of healthy eating because the childminder talks to them about different food. Visits and outings provide children with opportunities to develop physical skills and find out about nature. Overall, the childminder encourages children to become independent. However, she does not routinely encourage them to help to tidy up after activities, such as cooking, to reinforce and extend their sense of responsibility.
