This provision is good
The childminder understands how children learn and make progress. She successfully plans activities based on children's individual interests and abilities, in order to effectively promote their development. Children have developed secure bonds with the childminder because she provides a caring and loving environment. This enables children to develop confidence and a desire to learn. The childminder is skilled and sensitive in helping children of all ages form strong emotional attachments. This enables all children to develop a good sense of belonging. The childminder places a high priority on keeping children safe. She has a good understanding of child protection procedures and effective steps are taken to reduce potential dangers in the home and on outings. The childminder works well with other early years providers that children attend. She shares information about their care and learning, which helps provide continuity for
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Parents are not always fully encouraged to contribute to their children's ongoing learning and development. The childminder does not provide consistent opportunities for children to learn about similarities and differences in communities.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's policies, self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of members of the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents from their written comments.

who attend. This is good
The childminder has an effective understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She monitors the educational programmes and ensures that children learn and develop across the seven areas of learning. Children make good progress relative to their starting points. The childminder fully understands how to support children's development and provides a very well-resourced environment to maximise their learning. The quality of teaching is good. The childminder adapts her practice in relation to children's individual needs and stages of their development. She talks using clear and simple words for younger children to help them develop their speech. Children have regular access to outdoor play and enjoy a variety of activities, such as sand and water play, as well as using the slide to develop their physical skills. The childminder hides objects in the sand for young children to search for. She enhances children's curiosity and

motivation to work out where the object has gone through skilful questioning. Overall, children gain the necessary skills to support their future learning.

good
The childminder's home is warm, stimulating and safe. She is a good role model for children and she encourages them to be kind to others, share and take turns. She regularly praises children for their good behaviour. Children like to count the stickers on their charts, which supports them in developing their self-esteem. As a result, they are confident, social learners. However, the childminder does not provide enough opportunities for children to learn about the similarities and differences within their community. There are not enough resources that reflect positive images of these differences for children to explore and use in their everyday play. The childminder teaches children about road safety and they practise the fire drill. Children enjoy outings to groups where they socialise and develop relationships, which helps to prepare them for the move school. The childminder places a good emphasis on a healthy lifestyle.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a secure understanding of her role and responsibilities for safeguarding and follows effective procedures to protect children. The childminder keeps up to date with good practice through training and research, and meets with other childminders to share professional discussions. She works well in partnership with parents, providing them with a daily diary with information about children daily routines and activities. The childminder has a good understanding of each child's stage of development based on accurate observations and assessments, which she shares with parents. However, there are not enough opportunities for parents to regularly share information about what their child achieves at home. The childminder cares for children who attend the local school. Working partnerships between the childminder and the professionals at these settings have been fully established.
