who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder provides a highly stimulating and welcoming environment for children, where they enjoy exploring and investigating. She enables children to play uninterrupted so they can use their own ideas and imaginations. For example, making rose-petal perfume to sprinkle on the 'fairy garden' they have developed. This is also a topic children are working on in nursery. This, along with the rich, varied and imaginative experiences she provides for children, means they are curious, interested and very motivated to learn. Toys and activities include those which help children to learn about their diverse world as well as the natural world around them. For example, making a worm garden and hatching caterpillars. The childminder's very effective exchange of information with parents ensures children's individual needs are met consistently. As a result, all children reach their expected targets in the Early Years Foundation Stage and make excellent progress.

outstanding
The childminder has an excellent understanding of the need for children to feel safe and secure. She provides a very welcoming environment with a room dedicated to children where their work is displayed prominently, nurturing a sense of belonging and ownership. The childminder's home is clean and hygienic, and she encourages children to learn about good hygiene practices and healthy lifestyles. For example, the childminder encourages physical activity and she is working with the children and their parents to develop a recipe book of healthy meals. The childminder and her assistant are very good role models for children and they have realistic expectations regarding behaviour management. Children attend different settings where they learn to deal with new or unfamiliar situations. As a result, children are well behaved, respectful and are growing in confidence. This helps to prepare children for their next stage of learning.
p.3
provision is outstanding
The well-qualified childminder has an extremely strong commitment to her own and her assistant's professional development. This, combined with robust policies and procedures, underpins her outstanding practice. Self-evaluation arrangements are very strong and take account of the opinions of her assistant, children and parents. Exceedingly effective working relationships with parents and other settings that children attend, ensure they have continuity of learning. The childminder skilfully promotes older children's early literacy and writing skills. However she has recognised the opportunity to build further on children's skills by providing writing equipment in all play areas. The childminder works exceptionally well with her assistant and monitors her work closely. Observation and assessment arrangements are precise and sharply focused on individual children, and as a result, children make rapid progress. Effective planning ensures that children have
