p.1

This provision is good

 Children's care and well-being is outstanding because of the excellent nurturing care the childminder gives them. Children show that they have an extremely strong bond with the childminder who tunes in highly successfully to each child's needs.  The indoor and outdoor play environments are highly stimulating and accessible, with a wide variety of toys and experiences. This provides children with excellent opportunities to make many choices in what they play with.  The childminder displays photographs of children and examples of their artwork in the attractive designated play areas. This helps children to feel valued and welcome, and increases their self-esteem and respect for each other.  The childminder has a confident understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures because she keeps her training and knowledge up to date. She liaises with statutory agencies, which enables her to effectively support vulnerable families.

p.1

This provision is good

 The competent, dedicated childminder continually evaluates and improves her setting to ensure the quality is consistently good. She puts children first and foremost, giving children a lot of time and attention.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Although the childminder promotes children's communication and language well, she does not introduce resources during singing and rhyming activities to promote excellent learning outcomes.

who attend. This is good

Children's learning needs are capably met by a childminder who understands how children learn. She provides them with good quality, purposeful play. Children are active and excited learners, developing valuable future skills because of the skilled interaction and playful support they receive. One-year-olds often chuckle when playing with the childminder; they play peek-a-boo and point to their own facial features. The childminder consistently builds on what children know and can do, and offers good challenge during playtime. She introduces pictures of food for children to find, match, and talk about during their shopping role play activity with trolleys. She has a clear knowledge of ways to promote children's language development effectively, often repeating words clearly and putting them into short sentences. Young children develop good sharing skills during pretend tea party play and small world play outdoors. The childminder uses toy characters

outstanding

The childminder is highly skilled and sensitive in helping all children to feel safe and secure, through the cuddles and attention she lavishes on them. She works extremely well with parents to ensure she has an exceptional knowledge of each family's needs and is highly caring and understanding. Children flourish in this compassionate home and behave well because of the frequent praise and encouragement they receive. They learn to cope with their own age and stage frustrations through carefully managed interactions and patient, consistent support from the childminder. Children relish opportunities to explore and find out what is available, and are easily able to initiate their own play and learning. They have a lot of fun in the fresh air, playing in the garden on wheeled toys and enjoying daily walks to the local riverside. Physical exercise and keeping safe are woven together expertly by the childminder, who ensures children can take risks, but in a managed way.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder efficiently implements her responsibility to meet legal requirements. She supervises children extremely well and keeps children safe through safety precautions in her home. Since her last inspection, she has completely enhanced her learning environment and monitors children's development closely to ensure they make good or better progress from their starting points. The self-aware, self-reflective childminder accurately evaluates her provision and conducts audits to help her improve. For example, she now displays children's artwork at child height and has a cosy music area. Partnerships with parents are successful. The childminder communicates extremely well with parents, who report knowingly and glowingly about the setting.
