The childminder provides outstanding educational programmes for children across all areas of learning and development. Children make age-appropriate progress, and in some cases exceed developmental expectations. They have excellent opportunities to engage with other children when they are at the childminders house, and she regularly takes them to playgroups. The childminder is highly effective at supporting children's communication and language skills. She talks to them constantly, introducing new words and ideas to their play. Children enjoy their time in the garden using ride-on toys and slides. Inside they make marks on paper, create musical maracas and post pretend letters through a post box.

outstanding

The childminder skilfully supports children's positive behaviour. She encourages children to share toys, listen to each other and use 'kind hands'. As a result, children's behaviour is exceptional. The childminder provides an extensive range of written and pictorial resources in the playroom to extend children's early-reading skills and recognition of letters. Although, outdoors children do not have as many opportunities to see print and books to enhance these skills. The childminder tailors the support she offers children, depending on their individual abilities. Children wash their hands and attempt to put on their own shoes. Younger children receive help as needed. The childminder encourages children to help set up the table for meal times, fostering their independence and preparing them for nursery and school. She discusses healthy foods with children during meal times and encourages them to eat healthily. Fresh drinks are available and accessible
