children's activities, of their progress and of her policies. The childminder understands how to protect children's welfare and is aware of the relevant reporting procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's well-being. The childminder recognises the importance of evaluating her provision and undertaking training to improve the quality of her practice. For example, she recently attended training on allergies and nutritional awareness to improve children's overall well-being and menus. The childminder understands the need to supervise her assistant and update him on current childcare practice to further strengthen his knowledge and skills.
p.1
The provision meets requirements
There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
p.1
Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises and checked all areas available for childminding, and the toys, resources and equipment available for children's use. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about her knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including how she assesses children's abilities, plans for their progress and evaluates her provision. The inspector viewed a selection of the childminder's documents, including her policies and procedures and discussed these. The inspector asked the childminder to explain how she assesses risks and promotes children's safety and well-being.
