This provision is good
Children develop strong bonds with the childminder who has a good knowledge of how to meet their individual needs and progress their learning. They receive lots of praise and encouragement and show pride in their achievements. Therefore, children are motivated to learn and confident to try new experiences. The childminder uses detailed observations of children's interests and knowledge of how they learn to plan varied experiences across the educational programme. She uses assessment effectively to identify children's learning priorities. This has greatly improved since her last inspection. There are strong partnerships with parents, which provide a continuous approach to meeting children's individual care needs and provision of an inclusive environment. The childminder is secure in her knowledge of safeguarding practices to promote children's health and safety effectively. This includes a good awareness of her

responsibility to report any concerns she has about children to the appropriate agencies.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
There is inconsistency in gaining information from parents about children's starting points to influence the childminder's early planning for children's individual learning. The childminder stores resources to promote children's early writing skills too high, meaning children are unable to use them independently in their play. The childminder does not consistently model writing to support children's early writing skills further, such as writing tickets for a train journey or creating shopping lists.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good
Children make good progress in all areas of learning, acquiring the skills they need ready for their next steps and their eventual move to school. Partnerships with parents are strong; although the childminder does not always obtain all information on children's starting points to influence her initial planning. The childminder promotes children's language development well. She constantly talks to the children as they play. This provides them with new vocabulary and involves them in discussions. Therefore, children are encouraged to communicate their needs and ideas, and to ask questions confidently, such as why a familiar character in a story has eaten the porridge, when they listen to stories. Children thoroughly enjoyed action rhymes. They followed instructions well and repeated familiar phrases confidently. There are good opportunities for children to be physically active. They climbed steps to descend the slide competently and balanced on

the edge of raised beds. Children were able to take risks as the childminder closely supervised them. This builds their confidence to balance unaided. Children negotiated space well on the ride-on toys. The childminder consistently encouraged children as they consolidated new skills, such as peddling the tricycle, so that they were motivated to learn.

good
The childminder provides a welcoming environment where children are happy and settle quickly. There is a good range of resources. The childminder uses photographs well to help children make decisions about their play. However, children cannot reach writing equipment to use in their self-chosen play, and the childminder does not model writing for a purpose to develop children's early writing skills further. Children develop good independent skills, such as removing their slipper socks and putting shoes on when they go outside to play in the garden. The childminder extends children's learning experiences well, taking them to a variety of activities in the local community, such as story and music groups. She provides children with clear explanations so that they understand safety expectations, such as wearing high-visibility jackets.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder promotes children's safety well. Children are aware of expectations, such as waiting at the bottom of the stairs to wash their hands for snack. The childminder uses self-evaluation well and accurately identifies ways to drive improvement. This means she has addressed previous inspection recommendations well. She has identified the need to link with her early years development officer and attend relevant training to develop her practice further.
