This provision is good
Children enjoy a well-organised learning environment. They have access to a wide range of resources and equipment and confidently make choices in their own play. The childminder provides a range of healthy snacks and nutritious home-made meals that children enjoy. This enhances their understanding of a healthy diet. The childminder carries out good observations and assessments of children's development, and identifies children's next steps in learning effectively. The childminder works closely with her assistant. They demonstrate a commitment to improving their practice by identifying relevant training courses to attend. They both complete online training and use the internet to keep their practice up to date. This helps to continually improve the outcomes for children. The childminder and her assistant have a thorough knowledge of the safeguarding and welfare requirements and are clear about their roles in keeping children safe at all

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide children with opportunities to further develop their understanding of diversity. The childminder does not always extend children's interests in activities outdoors. For example, by providing books on bugs and offering pens and paper to record their findings.

who attend. This is good
The childminder uses her knowledge of how children learn to plan interesting activities that engage children and motivate them to learn. For example, children share buckets and spades as they dig in the mud looking for bugs. The childminder supports children's play, providing bug pots to enable them to view the bugs in detail. Therefore, children learn about the world around them. The childminder and her assistant chatter away to the babies and children. They introduce new vocabulary and make effective use of repetition to support children to develop their language and communication skills. The childminder supports children's mathematical language as they count the balls as they roll them down the tube. She understands the importance of working in partnership with parents to keep up to date with children's interests and care routines. All children make good progress from their initial starting point due to the good quality of teaching and learning they

good
The childminder's home is welcoming, child-friendly and secure. The childminder and her assistant have established secure individual settling- in procedures which support children to form strong bonds with them. Babies and children develop their confidence and self- esteem as they independently explore the home. They enjoy a quick cuddle for reassurance and ask for assistance if needed. For example, they asked for help cutting up their strawberries. Children are learning how to stay safe and manage their own safety. The children's behaviour is good. They use the enclosed garden area and make use of the local parks. As a result, children get plenty of fresh air and physical exercise.

provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge of the learning and development, safeguarding and welfare requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She supervises her assistant effectively and ensures that she reads and follows the setting's policies and procedures and has undertaken paediatric first-aid training. This enhances children's well-being and learning. The childminder constantly evaluates her practice and is fully aware of the strengths and areas for improvement. For example, she is aware of the need to develop her assistant's knowledge of her monitoring system. The childminder has strong links with other professionals to support children and their families. Parents comment that they are very happy with the care and service that the childminder provides.
