relevant training courses and workshops to support her to deliver the highest quality and learning for all children.

who attend. This is good

The childminder observes children to assess their development and plan activities that interest and help them make good progress in all areas of learning. Each child has a progress record that provides valuable information about their achievements and is for parents and children to enjoy. The childminder actively supports children's decisions about their play and readily adapts activities to meet their individual needs. When playing with sand, children describe how it feels and the childminder promotes their speech and language development effectively. She talks to children about the texture and encourages them to find other resources to add to, and extend, their play. Children enjoy playing outside as they paint pictures at the easel and ride bikes to promote their physical development. They learn about their local community through regular outings. Children are becoming confident and active learners. The range of activities provided, and the

careful guidance and interaction from the childminder, enable children to be ready for their next stage of learning, at nursery or school.

p.3

outstanding

Children are exceptionally well settled and show that they feel safe and emotionally secure. Equality and inclusion are at the heart of everything that the childminder does with the children. She is highly effective in ensuring that all children are able to participate in activities, at their own level, and are fully included in all activities and routines of the day. The childminder is an excellent role model for children's behaviour. She has realistic expectations, and her kind and sensitive interaction enables children to behave extremely well. The thoughtfully planned playroom and outdoor areas create an enabling environment for all children, to promote their independence and to engage them in purposeful play. Children are provided with healthy, balanced home-cooked meals. They are fully encouraged to be healthy and active during outdoor play. This means children develop an excellent enthusiasm for healthy eating and physical activity from an early age.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder understands the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She provides a challenging learning environment with a broad range of resources available for children to choose from. These include resources that provide positive images of diversity to help children to recognise and respect difference. The childminder completes effective risk assessments on her home, and for any outings, to help children to be safe at all times. A fire drill is practised with children so they know what to do in an emergency. The childminder successfully evaluates her provision. She is very motivated, sets herself challenging targets for improvement, and includes contributions from parents and others.
