p.1

This provision is good

 Children are happy and content because of the secure and positive relationships they have with the childminder and her family.  The childminder is keen to develop and further improve her service. She acts promptly on advice and attends regular groups and training to enhance her knowledge, which helps her further promote children's development.  The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and the systems to support her practice are thorough. She has completed safeguarding training and demonstrates well how she makes the protection of children a priority.  The childminder offers a safe and welcoming environment for children. She completes appropriate risk assessments and implements suitable procedures to ensure that children are safe and protected in her home and on outings.  The childminder works effectively in partnership with parents and other settings children attend so that she provides continuity of care and learning for children.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Children do not consistently have access to resources and activities that represent their home languages. This slightly reduces the help they receive to reflect on their home experiences in their play.  The childminder is not yet making the best use of the garden to fully promote younger children's learning and development.

p.1

who attend. This is good

Children enjoy a varied range of stimulating activities that help them to make good progress from their initial starting points. The childminder makes good use of information from parents and her observations of children to assess their progress and plan for their individual learning needs. As a result, children develop into enthusiastic learners who are keen to take part in a variety of activities. The childminder promotes children's communication skills well as she talks to them about a wide range of topics, including their favourite characters from books they enjoy. Children thoroughly enjoy playing with playdough, using tools to mix and measure and shape cutters to make their favourite animals. The childminder extends this activity effectively by adding more creative materials and encouraging children to learn the names of the animals. Children are very independent and confidently choose resources. The childminder teaches them to tidy up

when they have finished. This helps them to prepare for moving on to school.

p.3

good

The childminder provides a stimulating learning environment for children who show high levels of curiosity and imagination. Children are confident and demonstrate strong self- assurance. The childminder uses praise to encourage positive behaviour and children behave very well. The childminder spends time settling children in and getting to know them and their parents to identify and meet children's individual emotional needs. This helps children to feel secure and gives them confidence to explore and learn. The childminder helps children to learn about heathy lifestyles. She works closely with parents who provide healthy packed lunches. Children enjoy plenty of exercise and develop their physical skills as the childminder takes them regularly to the park.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder effectively implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She reflects on her practice and improves her knowledge and skills by reading relevant publications and completing training. She completes a comprehensive self- evaluation process and identifies areas she plans to develop. These include the addition of resources recommended following guidance received at training. The childminder is currently further developing her systems for monitoring the progress of individual children to make it even easier to identify any gaps in their learning.
