who attend. This is outstanding

Children make excellent progress in all areas of learning because they enjoy very well- thought-out activities, devised to challenge them individually. Children learn through enjoyable practical activities. For example, children poured different sized cereals into a tray and focussed really well as they sorted these, counted them and finally threaded them to make bird feeders. The children developed their early language, communication, coordination and mathematical skills. They used terms such as, 'longer', 'too many', and 'turny wurny', to describe what they were doing. The childminder is adept at knowing when to intervene and when to leave children to lead their play. She builds their confidence to try things with her calm guidance, such as slowly demonstrating actions several times for children to observe and then successfully copy them.

outstanding

Children settle quickly and thrive in the childminder's gentle and attentive care. Her calm disposition and her affection nurture them so that they feel extremely safe. The childminder continuously praises and acknowledges children's achievements, which boosts their self-esteem and independence to play, explore and achieve. The childminder's home is a very safe place for children, which enables them to explore with confidence. It is extremely well resourced and organised with labels clearly showing where things are stored for them to find. The childminder plans the indoor and outdoor environments to complement each other and offers a rich range of experiences for children. Through her regular use of the outdoors, the childminder teaches children how to behave safely, either near roads or when using equipment. Children have very pleasurable mealtimes with fresh food and drink that contribute to maintaining their good health.
