who attend. This is outstanding

Children show excellent focus in the activities they choose. The childminder skilfully maximises on children's free play by joining in enthusiastically and asking questions to extend their learning. For example, children experimented by adding water to a tray of wooden shavings. The childminder asked them how it felt to touch and the children replied that it looked like porridge. The childminder challenged their thinking by asking who eats porridge in the fairy tale. Children recalled their experience of watching a fairy tale play at the theatre and the colours of the costumes that the characters wore. This promotes children's communication and language development very well. The childminder stimulates children's learning further as they discover letters and numbers that she has hidden in a tray. The childminder introduces letter sounds and links these with children's names that begin with the sound. This effectively prepares children for their next stages in

Children thrive as the childminder provides them with a very safe and caring environment that fully promotes their well-being. The childminder works in close partnership with parents to meet the dietary needs of individual children. Parents express the view that the childminder provides children with delicious and nutritious food at mealtimes. Consequently, children learn to make healthy choices. Children exercise and get fresh air as they play with a range of resources in the childminder's garden. Children thoroughly enjoy playing with water. They fetch water by themselves from a low-level play sink. This promotes their independence exceptionally well. The childminder enthusiastically offers praise and acknowledges children's views and ideas as they play. Therefore, children feel fully valued and develop high levels of self-esteem.

The childminder has a strong drive for improving the quality of the provision. She evaluates her performance on an ongoing basis and documents ideas for improvements in a daily diary. She is very keen to enhance her teaching skills with further training. For example, she has had training in supporting children with autism to ensure that she effectively meets the individual needs of all children. Partnership with parents is exemplary. The childminder effectively shares information with parents in regular newsletters and emails. Parents complete questionnaires to express their views and ideas on the quality of care provided to their children.
