p.1

This provision is outstanding

 All children are able to make rapid progress in relation to their starting points, as the childminder has an excellent understanding of each child's needs and interests.  The childminder has a sharp focus on observing and assessing children's progress. She sometimes makes videos of children to closely monitor their progress and this helps her to accurately identify the next steps in their individual learning.  The childminder works very well with parents. She shares information to ensure she recognises and meets children's needs and interests. She makes digital scrapbooks for parents using a variety of children's artwork to share their learning experiences and enable parents to complement children's learning at home. This shared approach helps to provide excellent continuity of care for the children.  Children behave exceptionally well as the childminder is a positive role model, talking calmly and politely to the children in her care. Children feel good about themselves, as

they receive lots of praise and encouragement.  The childminder demonstrates a strong commitment to ongoing improvements. She has successfully addressed all previous recommendations. The childminder has enhanced her knowledge regarding monitoring children's progress. She fully understands child protection procedures and ensures children are not exposed to any risk of cross infection.

who attend. This is outstanding

Children thoroughly enjoy imaginative play. The childminder skilfully extends children's learning, supporting their individual interests. For example, children chose to make hats and scarves for the toy dinosaurs. She asked them why the hats might not stay on the dinosaur's heads. She talked about size and shape to encourage problem solving. This helps children develop skills in readiness for nursery or school. Younger children had great fun filling containers with pasta letter shapes and used these as rattles. Older children searched for the letters to make their names, which helps develop early literacy skills. The childminder introduces songs in different languages, which children thoroughly enjoy singing. They play with lots of toys to positively reflect the wider community and celebrate different festivals. This helps children develop respect for each other. Children enjoy looking at photographs, but the childminder does not maximise opportunities for them to

outstanding

Children flourish in the childminder's care, as she is nurturing and attentive to their needs. All children show high levels of independence. For example, young children helped to tidy up. They fetched a small brush and dustpan to sweep up the pasta they dropped. This helps them develop a sense of responsibility. The childminder thoroughly supports children's learning of staying safe as they regularly practise the fire evacuation procedures. The childminder provides an extremely well-resourced environment, where children can play, rest and eat comfortably. She is vigilant in supervising children, including during sleep times. Children are developing healthy lifestyles, enjoying plenty of fresh air and physical play. Their individual care needs are fully met as the childminder recognises when children are tired, hungry or need changing, responding quickly to their needs.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder is highly committed to professional development. She uses self-evaluation well to continually reflect on her outstanding practice. The childminder seeks parents' views to help enhance her excellent service. She continues to increase her knowledge through training, which reflects in her excellent service. For example, she incorporates her knowledge from food-hygiene training to explain to children why they need to make sure food is clean before eating. Parents comment they are extremely happy with the care their children receive and very impressed with how much their children learn. The childminder works very effectively with her co-minder. She links with local schools and understands how to help parents seek professionals support for children with additional needs.
