Previous inspection good Enforcement action since last inspection none

p.2

This inspection

This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection Ofsted judge that it has sustained effectiveness .

p.2

This inspection

Since the last inspection the manager has addressed the one requirement and two of the recommendations made at the last inspection.

p.2

This inspection

The manager has informed placing authorities of the electronic and mechanical monitoring within the home. This is because the manager has informed the placing authority of the bedroom sensors placed on children’s and young people’s bedrooms. This ensures that during the night, staff are aware if they leave their bedrooms. In addition, this information is available within the home’s Statement of Purpose. Therefore placing authorities, parents and interested parties are made aware of the monitoring within the home, to keep children and young people safe.

p.2

This inspection

Staff have made improvements to the recording of measures of control used within the home. All children and young people are able to comment on the measure of control used, and this is recorded, even if they do not wish to comment. Therefore children and young people are encouraged to have a view on the measure of control used.

p.2

This inspection

Management have made improvements to a lock within the home, as noted within a local fire service check. The lock has been changed to enable staff, children and young people to exit the home without the need of a key, in case of fire. As a result, any potential hazards are identified and action taken to reduce the risk to children and young people in the case of a fire.

p.2

This inspection

The manager has made some progress to staff completing their Children’s Workforce Development Standards. A member of staff has been identified to provide support to staff to complete the standards. In addition an assessor has been identified to undertake internal verification of the portfolios. However, not all staff have completed the work. This recommendation is repeated. 3 of 5 Since the last inspection the Registered Manager has moved to another home within the organisation. The organisation has appointed an individual to manager the home and is in the process of registering with Ofsted.

p.2

This inspection

During the inspection, some shortfalls were noted. The Statement of Purpose is not up to date. For example, the age range of children and young people living at the home is not in line with the Statement of Purpose, and changes in management. In addition, while the organisation has completed internal monitoring, the reports have not been sent to Ofsted. While there is minimal impact on children and young people, these are a breach of regulations.

p.3

This inspection

Since the last inspection, there has been an allegation made regarding a member of staff. While appropriate action was taken to ensure that the young person was safe, the manager did not implement fully the homes safeguarding policy. This is because the manager did not consult with the Local Authority Designated Officer. In addition, the service did not inform Ofsted of the allegation. While sufficient action was taken, this does not ensure that robust action is taken in line with the home’s policy; to ensure that all allegations are taken seriously to ensure that children and young people are effectively safe, and their views are listened to.

p.3

This inspection

Children and young people continue to make exceptional progress at this home. They have reduced their challenging behaviour, eat healthily and are engaging with therapy and education. Staff are nurturing and treat children and young people with respect. They actively encourage them to participate in activities. Such as guides, trampoline club and local youth clubs. Staff support children and young people with contact with their families. They transport them, and stay with them when required.

p.3

This inspection

Children and young people live in a homely and welcoming environment that is furnished to a good standard. Their bedrooms are beautifully decorated and personalised to their interests and likes. Children and young people are also encouraged to make and sustain friendships, and will have play days at the home. Some young people have had their friends to stay overnight. As a result, children and young people view this as their home, and are encouraged to take part in appropriate peer activities. 4 of 5
