At the last inspection, two requirements were made which have now been actioned. The home’s hallway carpet has been cleaned and young people’s laundry facilities are in full working order. Young people experience a warm, homely environment where they can relax in comfortable surroundings. Some young people continue to make good progress while others are currently struggling emotionally and behaviourally. Young people continue to receive good quality care that is flexible and supportive of their needs. Overall, they like living at the home and feel that they are looked after properly.

This inspection
The staff team continue to be mindful of the impact on young people when they talk about and reflect on their family histories and previous circumstances. They work hard to reduce the difficulties that young people sometimes face when dealing with this information. The Registered Manager and staff team remain focused on providing the best possible emotional and practical support to lessen the impact of these circumstances. Young people benefit from this approach because they experience care, empathy and understanding that is reassuring and helpful.

This inspection
There have been some changes to the resident group and staff team. Some young people have moved on to new placements and new young people have been admitted. Changes to the staff team have also taken place that include experienced staff taking on more senior positions and new staff being recruited to residential care worker posts. Throughout these changes, there has been a considerable focus of the potential impact on young people in these circumstances. The Registered Manager has ensured that staff and young people have been able to prepare and plan for changing relationships. This has meant that everyone has received support to help them adjust to the new circumstances in the home.

This inspection
Individual plans are continuously reviewed and updated and provide the right 3 of 5 guidance to staff in implementing placement plan aims and goals. Staff remain focused on helping young people make progress in their lives and encourage open and honest discussions in support of building their resilience and reducing risky behaviours. Young people engage in group and one-to-one work with staff around issues that are relevant and current in the home. For example, young people have participated in work around car and road safety as well as activities that encourage honesty and being truthful.

This inspection
The home’s routines and practices are organised to provide an environment where improving outcomes can be achieved. Young people face some significant challenges and difficulties because of their past experiences and backgrounds. Staff use feedback and information from young people, teachers, social workers and therapists to shape the care and support needed to manage and overcome emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Registered Manager and staff team have a good awareness of young people's needs because of the well-established professional networks that are in place.
p.3
This inspection
Young people feel safe in the house and with the staff who look after them. Their safety and welfare continues to be a priority for the Registered Manager and staff team. The home's records reflect important information that is continually used to assess risks and safeguarding arrangements. There is conscientious practice with regard to child protection matters which results in young people’s needs being placed at the centre of the staff team’s practice. Clear procedures are in place for responding to child protection and safety concerns, which has resulted in a high number of notifications being made to Ofsted and the Local Authority Designated Officer. Incidents and allegations are dealt with appropriately and in line with wider safeguarding and child protection guidance. This means that the home works within a multi-agency framework as outlined in the home’s policies and procedures to ensure young people are kept safe.
