p.1
This provision is good
Relationships with children and families are outstanding. As a result, parental contributions are valued and children are emotionally secure and motivated to learn. Support for children as they settle or move to the next stage in their learning is excellent. Partnerships with other services and organisations involved in children's well-being are exceptional. This means children's needs are extremely well met. The childminder is qualified at level 3 and attends regular training. As a result, the quality of her teaching is good and she keeps up to date with ideas for good practice. Provision for children's communication and language development is very good. As a result, children become confident communicators. The childminder holds a current paediatric first aid-certificate and has taken part in safeguarding training. This means she knows what to do in an emergency or should she have a concern. As a result, children are kept safe.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder is pro-active and ambitious in her aim to continuously improve.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder effectively assesses what children know but does not place enough focus on how children learn when making assessments. This means there is scope to improve the already good quality of teaching and assessment still further. Children's experiences of sensory play are sometimes limited. There is scope to increase opportunities for exploration with tactile materials in order to provide richer learning experiences.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good
The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities around children's learning and development. Her teaching is consistently good and, as a result, children make good progress. She praises and encourages children. This promotes their confidence and eagerness to learn. Regular observations of children's progress help to plan next steps in their learning. Support for children's communication and language development is very good. The childminder successfully identifies opportunities for counting and recognising shapes to support their mathematical development. The childminder attends toddler groups where the children enjoy physical play. They learn to stay healthy through daily access to fresh air, exercise and nutritious meals and snacks. Visits to the park, farm and beach develop their curiosity about the world around them. The setting is well resourced with a range of toys and equipment, however, there are not enough tactile materials to

outstanding
The childminder has an excellent understanding and knowledge of the children in her care and a profound commitment to meeting their needs. Relationships with children and their families are outstanding. The childminder works in partnership with parents to provide extremely supportive and highly-effective systems for settling children who are new. For example, she visits children at home prior to them starting at the setting. She is highly skilled in helping children form secure emotional attachments. As a result, children are able to develop as independent and confident learners. Her interactions are extremely warm, gentle and highly responsive. She is an outstanding role model and, as a result, behaviour is excellent. Arrangements designed to support children as they move to the next stage in their learning are excellent. The childminder has extensive experience of supporting children with disabilities. Her ability and commitment to working in partnership

with families, other providers and organisations to ensure children's needs are fully met are exceptional. For example, she works extremely closely with local charities and the local authority to provide targeted support for the children in her care.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of responsibilities around safeguarding and knows the procedure if she has a concern. Detailed policies and record keeping help ensure children's safety. The childminder has established good links with local schools and settings. She shares and receives information with them on topics and learning in order to support children's progress. She monitors and evaluates children's progress regularly. However, assessment is not always linked to how children engage in learning and what motivates them to become learners, in order to promote their learning even further. The childminder evaluates the effectiveness of her provision with support from the local authority. She is strongly committed to the continuous improvement of the service she provides.
