Young people develop well while at the home and are consistently supported by the staff team to achieve in all aspects of their lives. The home is well run and the staff are committed to doing their best for the young people who live there. Young people are clearly relaxed with each other and enjoy good relationships with the staff. The staff team work to a series of principles based on respect and trust that offers a good role model to young people and encourages listening and participation. A social worker reported that the home is the, 'friendliest welcoming and homely environments I have experienced… (staff) have worked in a creative and flexible way to try to meet the individual needs of my child.'

This inspection
Young people that have left the home since the last inspection have moved into settled placements and are reported to be doing well. Incidents at the home have decreased since the last inspection, as the current young people become more settled within the home. The Registered Manager has a good awareness of the need to keep all interested parties informed when events occur that need information sharing.
p.2
This inspection
Monitoring processes are completed on a monthly basis by both the Registered Manager and an external party. Reports following these external visits are forwarded on to the necessary parties and include discussions with young people and adults linked to their care such as social workers and parents where appropriate. This ensures that reports relate specifically to the experiences of the young people at the home. Action points from visits are responded to swiftly, showing the homes determination to improve. A development plan is also in place to further improve the level of care provided at the home.
p.2
This inspection
At the home's last inspection one requirement and four recommendations were made to improve practice. All of these have been positively responded to. All young 3 of 5 people are now involved with educational placements, with a young person attending a 'children's champions' award ceremony due to their high level of attendance. This will clearly be important as young people move into adulthood and attempt to find work.
p.2
This inspection
Incidents of young people being missing from the home have dramatically reduced since the last inspection. All reporting procedures are completed swiftly when such incidents occur and young people are spoken to on their return to examine the reasoning for their absence, in an attempt to decrease any further such event.
p.3
This inspection
All young people have placement plans, relating to the specific care that they are to receive while at the home. Placement plans are regularly updated and the care of young people forms a significant part of staff meetings to ensure that care is consistent. Key workers update plans regularly and also meet with young people, responding to any worries or concerns the young people raise. Key work sessions are used to discuss pertinent issues in the home and to praise when positive events have occurred.
p.3
This inspection
Advocate services have been promoted within key worker meetings and also young people's meetings since the last inspection. Some young people have taken up the chance to have an advocate support them while others state that they would be able to use the web based service. Both of these options help to support young people in the home, having an additional external party to speak to if they are distressed.
p.3
This inspection
Young people are kept safe at the home through staff that are aware of how to respond to safeguarding concerns. When such concerns are raised the Registered Manager has appropriate links with child protection organisations and referrals are swiftly made. The Registered Manager has been involved with meetings regarding the safety of young people and this helps to develop staff's awareness of risks that may occur within the home.
p.3
This inspection
Staff work well to develop positive behaviours at the home. Incidents of restraint and negative consequences are low, with an expectation that praise and reward is more effective. This has led to a wide range of rewards being given to young people, including different activities, trips out and shopping trips. Staff report that behaviour within the home is consequently good as young people are able to manage their behaviour better.
