This inspection
This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection Ofsted judge that it has declined in effectiveness .
p.2
This inspection
The organisation has not prioritised all young people’s global needs. Poor matching of young people has negatively impacted on young people’s emotional well-being. The home’s Statement of Purpose is clear that the home does not offer emergency admissions. However, a young person was admitted to the home without any appropriate pre-admission risk assessment and without consideration for the effects on other young people. As a result, there has been a significant change to the home and this has unsettled young people. Young people’s feelings of ownership and safety within the placement have declined.
p.2
This inspection
The continuous disruption in the home for some young people has meant that they have lost focus in their education. Those young people do not receive enough input into planning for their futures after they leave the home; specifically around their plans for higher education and careers.
p.2
This inspection
Since the last inspection, risk taking behaviours have increased for some young people. This has negatively impacted on the progress and development of some young people within the home. Young people have not received the emotional support they need during traumatic events due to the focus being on managing the complex behaviours now present within the home. The efforts of staff are good in managing the enhanced behaviours which are currently presenting within the home. Staff work closely with the police to ensure that all missing from care protocols are followed and that everything possible is done to return young people back to the home safely. Staff work tenaciously to keep young people safe.
p.2
This inspection
Staff practice is child focused. They support young people to make complaints and make their voices heard regarding their unhappiness. Staff enable young people to speak openly to one another regarding their feelings. There is a focus on restorative work with young people. This helps them to understand about the impact of their 3 of 6 behaviours.
p.2
This inspection
There is a consistent management and staff structure within the home. The deputy manager is currently standing in for the Registered Manager. This has provided consistency within the management structure and running of the home. However, the deputy manager has been unable to hold full accountability for decision making regarding admissions. This has impacted on the morale of the staff team as well as the emotional well-being of the young people.
