This provision is good
The childminder works very closely with parents from the start of the settling-in visits. This helps her to identify what stage children are at in their development. As a result, she knows children very well. The childminder makes very good use of her assessments to plan effectively for children's future learning. As a result, they make good progress. The childminder puts children's safety high on her agenda. She has a secure understanding of safeguarding issues. The childminder is also active in helping children understand how to keep themselves safe as they play and explore. This helps to protect them from harm. The well-qualified childminder is committed to improving the quality of care and education she provides. She attends regular training and this has had a good impact on the learning experiences she offers children. For example, she has added resources, such as a parachute and special balloons. This has helped to extend children's creativity

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home and the outdoor environment, including a garage which has been converted into a playroom. The inspector evaluated a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation, and a range of other documentation including, policies and procedures, certificates and suitability checks. The inspector took account of the views expressed by parents in their written communication.

who attend. This is good
The quality of teaching is good and the childminder is particularly focused on promoting the skills children need to be ready for school. She teaches them how to cooperate with others by encouraging them to take turns as they make a fountain wheel turn with water. Children learn to count and name colours during everyday activities, such as breakfast time. For example, they name the colour of the bowls and count how many they need. The childminder observes children well, she narrates what she is doing and provides clear instructions that help them to achieve. However, she sometimes does not provide children enough time to think and respond to questions. For example, when she asked children to identify the monster's feet they were using, she stepped in too quickly and answered the question herself.
p.3
good
The childminder provides an environment that children find interesting and motivating. For example, children are learning about the wider world as they watch the eclipse and talk about the sun and moon. Children are confident and enjoy carrying out small tasks, such as turning on the compact disc player to listen to music. However, the childminder does not always consider what she is using music for. Music is often playing in the background and occasionally, children find it hard to concentrate on what they are doing. The childminder's settling-in process helps children quickly settle. They are happy and enjoying their time in the setting. They have developed strong emotional bonds with the childminder and other children present. The childminder talks to children about school, their teachers and the friends they have made. Everyday routines help children learn to become competent in taking care of their own personal health and hygiene. This helps

children to be physically and emotionally prepared for school.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the learning and development requirements. She is clear about what she needs to notify Ofsted and this has included changes to the numbers of children she cares for. The partnership with parents is good. The childminder reflects on the quality of her provision and involves them in the process. As a result, she has improved the quality of information that she provides to parents. For example, she shares ideas of how they can support their children's development at home. The childminder completes a progress check for children between the ages of two and three years in a timely manner. This helps to identify any gaps in their learning. Parents comment positively on the variety of play and learning experiences their children are provided. They state that they are reassured by the quality of care and education their children receive.
