This provision is good
The childminder interacts with children well. She sits at the children's level, makes eye contact, listens and models language well. This helps children develop their communication and language skills. The childminder plans activities to encourage fine physical development. For example, they complete threading activities to encourage their hand-to-eye coordination. Children's development is carefully monitored and encouraged through a broad variety of activities undertaken in the home and in the local community. The childminder demonstrates a good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of safeguarding. She also encourages children's awareness of safety appropriate to their age and understanding. Positive relationships develop with parents and others who are involved with the children. This helps to promote continuity in their care and learning.

It is not yet outstanding because:
Children enjoy a healthy variety of food, however, snack and mealtime routines are not consistently followed to enable children to learn about good hygiene and healthy eating habits. For example, on occasion, children wander around to eat their snacks and do not wash their hands first. This also means that children miss the social opportunities that mealtimes can provide.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides a varied range of activities and builds on the children's interests well. She listens to the children and responds to them attentively showing that she is interested. The childminder encourages children to count as they play, and to match and sort the colours of the blocks and cotton reels. She reads to the children using expression in her voice and encourages them to turn the pages in the book. This encourages children to develop their awareness of the enjoyment books can provide. Children's scrapbooks provide valuable evidence of the many craft, drawing and painting activities the children undertake. They also show how children develop their skills overtime until eventually they start labelling their own work. Progress is monitored carefully and records indicate children are making good progress. Generally teaching is good and children develop the skills they need to help them progress when they start nursery or school.

good
The childminders warm nurturing care helps to build children's confidence and self- esteem. She talks to the children about their feelings and responds attentively when they are getting tired. The childminder is a good role model, and she encourages children to learn to be kind and gentle to each other through her example. She is calm and consistent in her manner and expectations. The childminder helps children to develop their personal independence. This helps promote self-confidence. Face-to-face conversation, a daily diary, in addition to computer development records, all help to promote a positive two- way flow of information between the childminder and parents. This helps to ensure children receive the support and encouragement they need to make good progress.
p.3
provision is good
All the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage are met. Children have easy access to a good range of age appropriate resources. The premises are clean and well maintained. Careful risk management helps to promote the children's safety, both in the home and on outings. Children learn about safe behaviour through conversations, stories and opportunities to use tools in their activities. The childminder attends appropriate training to keep her skills up to date. In partnership with her co-childminder she reflects on the provision she provides. She has clear plans for how she will develop her skills and the service she offers in the future.
